Historia
When they were growing up, Dana, Harper, and Tawny thought of themselves as “sometimes sisters". They connected only during the summer month they’d all spend at their grandmother’s rustic lakeside resort in north Texas. But secrets started building, and ten years have passed since they’ve all been together - in fact, they’ve rarely spoken, and it broke their grandmother’s heart.

Cheesy and silly
Revisado: 03-13-24
Maybe this is not my type of genre but it’s just so silly and cheesy that I kept rolling my eyes. So sickly sweet all the time.

Nothing
Revisado: 12-22-23
Ahh…the main characters act like a silly teenager not a grief stricken widow/mother and a professional ex-secret services. I feel like if the author wanted to write a YA novel, she should have just written one. I struggled so much getting back to this book as it was just silly. Between the ridiculously cliche love interest to the constant talk about God. I would say save your credits for something else.

Historia
There are people in Edgewater, Oregon, who think that twenty years ago, Rachel Gaston got away with murder. But Rachel still has no idea how a foolish teenaged game turned deadly - or who replaced her soft pellet air gun with a real weapon. When a figure jumped out at her from the darkness, she fired without thinking. By the time she recognized her half-brother, Luke, it was too late.

The characters and dialogue are so bad
Revisado: 01-04-23
The dialogue was so cringey. Adults sound like teenagers. All that yelling “Stop” to themselves whenever they got suspicious about anything was beyond annoying. Bad characters and bad writing.

But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

It was fine
Revisado: 11-05-22
As an Eastern European, it was clear that writer is not. Her food choices which she made sound like traditional Russian food is more what Americans think Russian food is. Like “home-made noodles”. I don’t know a single Russian or Ukrainian person who makes noodles. Noodles are not a big part of Eastern European cuisine as that region is more about potatoes and grains and “meatballs” in saffron broth is not a thing. That aside, some sentiment of Eastern European nature were spot on - like the coldness toward children.

Mixed bag
Revisado: 10-25-22
It was a page turner but I think the author should not have made the husband a therapist.., unless he got his degree online. He clearly can’t communicate, control his rage or cope so not sure how he can do his job…

Cringey in many ways…
Revisado: 09-09-22
I wish a female author would deviate from the cringe formula of tough weathered by his career cop and a fiesty “strong and independent” woman who is somehow always in distress and with a “tight ass” of course. The cliche of characters made me not care about the story…

Well…
Revisado: 07-16-22
I wish the editor of this book would have gotten rid of about 80% of “wells”. Every sentence started with “well” which made every character (even those from other countries) sound the same. This never ending “well” at the start of every sentence was very grating. The book is ok otherwise.

Steven dropped to his knees next to the paramedic. "Jenna." Her eyes opened and in them he saw shock and tears and guilt. "I'm so sorry, Steven. I should have listened to you." Steven noticed the smears of blood on her worn Duke T-shirt. "Any other wounds?" he asked the paramedic. "Only her throat. The blood on her shirt appears to be her own." "We found bloody handprints on the carpet where she crawled from the bedroom," said Uniform Two.

Just no
Revisado: 12-02-20
Omg. This makes me wonder if the writer ever had real sex or just read about it in romance novels. Sex scenes were hilariously corny like a very silly young adult novel. I had to rewind through that. The story was tired and dusty.
Same characters as in most other novels.

Might contain spoilers
Revisado: 11-11-20
This was difficult to get through. It could have been a good story but the main character made me roll my eyes roll so many times. How pathetic can a person be? You have this pathetic guy who is obsessed with his wife to a point of nausea. It’s hard to believe any person could be that pathetic and that much of a doormat. It doesn’t even matter what happens in the story. The guys ruminates all the time and his ruminations are maddening.

Pretty corny. Very cliché character. I could barely make it through one hour of this book and had to give up. I hate forced romance storylines.
