Pretty good
Revisado: 08-31-23
Narration was OK. Sort of expected better Scottish accent from someone named Macleod, but it is what it is. Story was just ok. I did love seeing Ross and Annabelle again. I think the mad motive behind the killings was sort of stupid. Especially Claray buying into that rubbish at all, but again, I guess that may have been prevalent at the time. Overall, I liked it. However, I do think there was much more story that could have been told and less chatter.

Revisado: 10-12-22
I could write a long review of how moved I felt so many times in this book, but I agree with Josh Brandon, Bill Shatner is simply one of the most interesting people to ever grace our planet. This book is brilliant. It will stay with me...

Poor Jane
Revisado: 02-11-22
I really felt for this woman even before reading this book. She is always depicted as boring but I never thought so. Like most women of that time she was used to further her male family's ambition. I always felt she did love Henry and Jane believesd that Anne's marriage was wrong and invalid as depicted in this book. She did come from a catholic background and probably had issue with the way Anne became queen...although I personally hold a different feeling about Anne than the traditional schemer. Rosalyn Landor is fabulous as always. I so felt for Jane at the end. Great history...great fiction...and great speculation. I recommend.

Historia
Newly widowed and the father of an infant son, Henry VIII realizes he must marry again to ensure the royal succession. Forty-six, overweight, and suffering from gout, Henry is soundly rejected by some of Europe's most eligible princesses. Anna of Kleve, from a small German duchy, is 24 and has a secret she is desperate to keep hidden. Henry requests her portrait from his court painter, who portrays her from the most flattering perspective. Henry is entranced by the lovely image, only to be bitterly surprised when Anna arrives in England and he sees her in the flesh.

Wonderful story
Revisado: 02-08-22
Interesting take on the most unknown Queen of Henry VIII. I sincerely enjoyed the fictionalized portions of the book....the Otto love story. I actually cried at the end having felt such despair for her and Otto. Rosalyn Landor did one of her BEST narrations. She is amazing. I highly recommend this book for lovers of history ...since most of it is based on actual historical events and for those who just like a good romance. I thought it was terrific.

Historia
Lady Frederica Darlington isn’t prim, obedient, or appropriately dispassionate as a proper lady of the aristocracy should be. Nor is she interested in securing a husband, whether rake, rogue, duke, or lord. Freddy wants to live as she pleases in a place she feels she belongs, and for a unconventional lady, the bohemian world of Covent Garden seems the perfect spot. She has a plan to achieve her goal, but when one of her secret missions goes awry and the King of the Underworld rescues her, danger never looked so enticing.

I love Julie Johnstone's books. But this series isn't really her strongest. I liked Gabe and Freddy but the story was a bit weak. Tim Campbell was terrific as always. I would probably read again and keep.

No one ever accused Kerr Macalister of being a nice man. Everyone would agree, however, that when he makes up his mind about something, no one will change it. Which is why everyone knows Isobel MacKinnon will end up his wife. Isobel spent most of her childhood in love with tall, dark, and deadly Kerr. It wasn't until she was 15 and failed to entice Kerr into kissing her that things turned sour. Now, Kerr is the one trying to entice her. But Isobel knows how to hold a grudge and won't be swayed unless he proves his love.

Such a disappointment
Revisado: 01-17-22
I have LOVED this entire series, but this book was SO disappointing. Kier deserved so much better than this childish, spoiled brat. The series has been about struggle and survival. There is a huge enemy plotting against the entire group and she decides to "play a trick" like a 12 year old. I simply wanted to smack her the entire book and tell Kier to find someone nore deserving and leave the little snot on her own.

Tedious
Revisado: 12-04-21
Poor narration and a snooze of a story. Why have male and female narrators and have them alternate chapters. WHY not have them read the male and female parts? The female narrator's male voice was terrible and the male's female voice was not much better. It was so irritating. Can't recommend. I so wanted a nice Christmas story.

could have been very good
Revisado: 11-29-21
Cute story. Not the absolute worst narration I have ever heard, but close. A better narration would definitely have helped. All of the men sounded like teenage girls. The best voices were the two kids...since nearly everyone sounded sort of childlike. I recommend the story, but perhaps a Kindle version would be better.
