Historia
If England had yearbooks, I'd probably be "Arden St. Ives: Man Least Likely to Set the World on Fire." I've no idea what I'm doing at Oxford and, until a week ago, I had no idea who Caspian Hart was. Turns out, he's brilliant, beautiful...oh yeah, and a billionaire. It's impossible not to be captivated by someone like that. But Caspian Hart makes his own rules. And he has a lot of them. About when I can be with him. What I can do with him. And when he'll be through with me. But now that Caspian's shown me glimpses of the man behind the billionaire I know it's him I want.

Oh No
Revisado: 09-25-22
Oh you’re perfect, you’re beautiful, you’re wealthy even though you treat me horribly….. Not my idea of romance, but the overarching theme in this book. No thanks.

Historia
Should I Stay or Should I Go? is a survival manual, a guidebook, and a shot of reality. Some people will never change, and kissing frogs is the stuff of fairy tales, not real life. The Beast never turns out to be a nice guy (or gal). This is a book that breaks down what mean people do to us, how they do it, and what we can do to survive.

First time narrating?
Revisado: 06-27-21
Dr. Ramani is a national treasure! Her work on narcissism and narcissistic abuse is life-changing. I love her YouTube channel and have attended a few of her online seminars. So, I was expecting a lot. The book content is fantastic. But I wasn’t expecting a stilted performance reading her book. She seems such a natural on YouTube. She was better by the end and I had the feeling that this was the first time reading a book for audible, which I have no idea if it’s true or not. She was very focused on pronunciation so everything was very clear, just not as smooth as I would have preferred. I’m sure she’ll be better with her next book.

Very Short Beach Read
Revisado: 12-24-18
Nothing too taxing going on here. But a nice, diverting, and implausible romance. Entertaining. Some sexy scenes—you might need to listen with headphones on.

Interesting
Revisado: 12-21-18
Interesting. Different choice of narrator. Usually books seem to strive for a more polished voice. I liked the stories; they made me think.

A beach read
Revisado: 12-12-16
It was a fun, easy read. A different take on Snow White that fills in gaps left from the Disney movie I saw as a child. Still. People who turn into dragons, people with magic, people with 2 hearts, people who can't speak when one of their hearts is missing.... If all that makes sense and resonates with you, you will enjoy this book.
I liked it more while reading it than after I had time to think about the things that didn't quite work. A good beach read.
Glad I bought it on sale.

Whining and Repetitive
Revisado: 06-17-16
The author repeats several things again and again. The characters are all supposed to be so smart, but they never notice that they're being told the same thing from the same person several times. Even after I stopped paying full attention, I heard the same sentences over and over again. The reader does whining well. If I were reading this in print I would not have had their voices be so whiny. I also didn't realize that this was going to be a book mostly about gay sex. I don't like books that rely on sex so heavily. I'd rather read a good story. I recognized the authors name and thought I had liked another book, but I won't make that mistake again. Save your credit for something better.

This happened and then that happened
Revisado: 01-23-16
I didn't like the reader. His voice was nice and his male characters had depth. But the women, and the main character is a woman, women's voices were high pitched and without any feeling. It sounded more like someone making fun of women than someone supposed to be one.
Plus, the book was very... this then that then the next thing, and then the one after that. No soul. No drama. Just this happened then that happened. It was a waste of time.

Historia
Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia.

Fuck it, Baby
Revisado: 09-29-15
Way too much swearing. Too many babys, honeys, and fucks to be believable, much less readable. Not even a nod to correct accents. But the worst was Josie. The main character's accent is not possible by anyone who grew up anywhere in the us this century, and even less likely by anyone who grew up entirely in Maine, even if her entire life was in private schools, which it wasn't. The story was unbelievable. A modern day swearing, honest man, famous retired boxer who owns a boxing gym and a gentlemen's club--only to make ends meet, and the prissy, famous photographers secretary. Lots of swearing. Lots of sex scenes. And it was slow paced. So much so that at one point Josie comments about how she had only been in town a week, and I had been thinking she must have been there several months already....

Characters Voices Not Consistent
Revisado: 06-17-15
The story is lovely. And, the reader has a lovely speaking voice. However, her mixing up of the voices and therefore making me wonder when a certain person entered the town, made this very difficult to listen to during certain sections.

Put me to Sleep
Revisado: 11-05-14
What disappointed you about He's Gone?
I tried listening to this, I really did. Several times. But every single time I woke up several hours later to find out it had finished and I had no idea what the book was about. At one point I picked a place in the middle and started from there, it put me to sleep again. As a person who has trouble sleeping, I'm actually wondering if I should keep it, because it puts me to sleep so quickly. I set it to play the last two chapters (more than once), and finally heard how it ended. But I still missed the entire middle of the story.
What was most disappointing about Deb Caletti’s story?
It put me to sleep.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes, it actually did. The tone seemed perfect for the story.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Cheaper than tranquilizers?
