𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐨𝐧 is the 3rd book in the Waverly Wildcats series by Jennifer Bonds, featuring an enemies to lovers/second chance romance with Sutton and Parker. Nothing is worse for a college girl than constantly running into the guy you had a bad hookup with, called you by the wrong name, and doesn’t even remember you. After a serious of unfortunate events, Sutton finds herself constantly in DJ Parker’s orbit, wondering how she could possibly still be attracted to him. Could an enemies with benefits arrangement help them work each other out of their system, or is the connection deeper than just physical? Once they are competing for the same internship, how will that change things?

The first time I read this series, I started with this one, so it’s been fun to listen to the audiobooks in order! My favorite thing about world building in a series is character development, and the characters in the this book are great. There’s a great blend of witty and snarky banter, authentic emotion, and yes, fiery chemistry between the leads. Sutton and Parker each had personal issues that added to their relatability. The dual POV and the internal dialogue was a great way to delve into the emotions they were experiencing over their different insecurities—him from past bullying and her from family issues. I don’t want to give many details here, but it was all handled well, and it helped me really connect with the characters, and want to root for them! Between Sutton’s feisty personality and the crazy guys on the football team there were plenty of chances to laugh in the book as well, which I always love. Overall, this was a fun reverse take on the grumpy/sunshine trope!

Tim Paige and Stacy Gonzalez did a great job on the narration here, juggling the banter, emotion, and the chemistry! Stacy was new to me, but I enjoyed her performance, and I’ve heard Tim Paige before and liked his approach!

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 is the 4th book in the Waverly Wildcats series by Jennifer Bonds, featuring an entertaining opposites attract romance for football player Brady Vaughn and Piper Reynolds. If Piper was going to break her no-dating rules for anyone, it would be the sweet and alluring Brady, but she has a future to focus on and a secret to protect. But Brady is more than wholesome farm boy. He goes all out when he wants something, and he set his sights on Piper. What’s a few dance classes, when the girl of your dreams hangs in the balance?😂 Secrets have a way of getting out, and can affect relationships and life plans.

I feel like this book was directed right at my WV girl heart!!🥰 Brady Vaughn won me over so hard with his golden retriever vibes, heart of gold, love of family and the land, his open-mindedness, and his protective nature.😍 His pursuit of her made me laugh… those class scenes!🤣 My heart went out to Piper over her background, but I was proud of the way she embraced her power emotionally and accepted her beauty. Life as a curvy girl can be a difficult at times. I loved them together, and the way they were able to explore their spicy chemistry together! This story also comes with some outside drama that definitely adds to the angst, and had me stressing. Between Brady’s family and his teammates, you’ll get a good dose of that found family vibe, and it’s always fun to see the characters from the previous books! I can’t wait to see which player is the next to fall!

The recently released audio version is narrated by Sean Masters and Kelsey Navarro Foster, who did a wonderful job bringing these characters to life! Honestly, Sean Masters could read the dictionary and I would enjoy it, but he added another dimension to Brady especially. I just love the way narrators capture the nuances of the characters!

𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐧 is the 2nd book in the Waverly Wildcats series by Jennifer Bonds, featuring a funny and angsty brother’s best friend, secret hook-up romance for Quinn and Cooper. Quinn never imagined cashing in her V-card would be so difficult, but between her quirky mishaps and playboy Cooper’s interference, she’s at her wit’s end! Maybe the solution to her quest has been in front of her all along. What could possibly go wrong?

I loved Quinn’s quick wit and nerdy personality, and the feisty banter that she and Cooper tossed back and forth was so much fun! She was like Murphy’s Law personified, and I was here for it! I am a sucker for a playboy who gets bowled over by that one special girl who changes his entire perspective. Cooper’s evolution in this book was fantastic to watch! And boy, did they generate some spicy chemistry and heat as the book progressed! The teammates and friends were hilarious and bolstered the lighthearted aspect of the story. I was pleasantly surprised by the emotional depth that developed as well, leading to some dramatic surprises that had me in my feelings.

The audio version was narrated by James Cassidy and Lucy Rivers, who both elevated story to another level, as they nailed the comedy, the romance, and the emotional moments. Lucy is always great, but I’d never heard James before, and he had truly had me under his spell!

I received an ACX for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 is the first book in the Waverly Wildcats series by Jennifer Bonds, featuring forced proximity/ secret romance between Austin and Kennedy. When the Wildcats lose their kicker to injury and stupidity, team captain, Austin Reid obliterates the box by recruiting Kennedy Carter from the women’s soccer team. She has a killer leg and the potential to save their season. The problem? She hates football players and the chemistry between them is going to be impossible to deny, no matter what Coach says. A secret Teammates with Benefits arrangement seems like a good solution, but will it really work without someone getting hurt?

I really enjoyed going back to where this series began for the release of the new covers. I loved the premise of introducing a female kicker to the team, and the drama that comes with that. Austin is a great character with more layers than you realize at first. He’s a strong leader, a good friend, and he is willing to sacrifice entirely too much to make his father proud. When it comes to Kennedy, I’m a bit conflicted. I appreciate her strength, her drive to succeed, and my heart certainly went out to her over the emotional issues she still carries from her father. However, it felt like she spent way too much of the book painting every football player with a broad brush, making them pay for her father’s shortcomings, especially Austin. Yes, he made a mistake late in the book, while under family pressure, but she couldn’t give him an inch. I don’t know, it just frustrated me. Other than that, I enjoyed their relationship, their banter, the angst and definitely their passion. I also loved the dynamics of the guys on the team, and this book definitely succeeded in setting up an interesting world for a series.

The newly released audio version is narrated by Ash Beverly and Amy Hall, who both did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, through the banter, emotion, chemistry, and that team camaraderie! I really enjoyed this story on audio, and I look forward to listening to the rest of the series as they are released in this format!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 is Book 3 in the Davenports series by L. Steele, fake relationship, billionaire romance for Knox and June. He’s a physically and emotionally scarred military vet hero, and she’s a curvy heroine with both a strong and vulnerable side. Their fiery chemistry sets the stage for unique Beauty and the Beast retelling with BDSM vibes, angst, emotional undertones, and real character development that is sure to have you shaking your head.😅 To be honest, I didn’t know what to think of Knox, and usually I’m all in on broken military heroes. However, his behavior was so abhorrent at times, that it made it hard for me to connect with him. His D/s dynamic with June felt weird at times, with her going from strong to doormat, even outside the bedroom. It ended up making more sense over time, though. The spice was off the charts!! One scene was almost too taboo for me, even!!🥵🔥🫣🦶🏻 Shane East and Evelyn Rose did a great job on the narration! The emotion, the angst, the heat, and the banter were on point! But seriously, Shane East could read anything with that deep textured voice in that accent, and I would be hypnotized!😅😍

Jace’s transition from playboy to devoted dad was fast and heartwarming! I loved the way Indy helped him learn and grow in the role. They had a great connection, great chemistry, and I love how the family steps in as always with support and tons of banter!
The narrators did a wonderful job portraying the main characters as well as the extended cast of family and friends! Every return to Kroydon Hills is an amazing experience!

I really loved Eric and Jessie’s story, with all the supporting characters, new and old! The Rock Chick vibe is alive and well with plenty of sassy banter, spicy chemistry, suspense, emotion, and some action! Stella Bloom once again nails all the nuances and personalities with her stellar performance!! This story was definitely better than the first one with less mention of political leanings. I can’t wait for the next one!

Stella Bloom did a fantastic job bringing this spin-off of the Rock Chick series to life!! I loved that Cap was one of the beloved foster boys from the original series all grown up and ready for his own story! I laughed, cried, blushed, and swooned, and loved the twists and turns! The only thing that kept me from giving the story 5 stars was the repeated injection of political ideological talking points that I just don’t want to hear or see when I read fiction, like toxic masculinity, climate change, gun control, and others. All issues can be debated some other time, but not when I’m reading to escape.🤷🏼‍♀️

Fall in love with mafia boss Felix Malone!!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 is the first book in the new Underbelly Enchanted series by Emilia Finn, which features Felix Malone’s story. When an overzealous reporter, Christabelle Cannon seems determined to bring down the remaining Malones, Felix is forced to get creative in order to stop her from harming his brothers’ reputations. He just doesn’t count on feeling a connection with her. Will she be his chance at happiness, or will she be the key to his downfall?

If you’re a fan of Emilia Finn’s books like I am, you may have met Felix in the Mayet Justice series as the annoying Mafia boss brother of Detective Archer Malone. I was so excited to visit the darker underworld to peel back the layers on the enigma that is Felix! He’s such a complex character! One minute he’s all witty banter and innuendo, and the next he’s the ruthless mafia boss ready to kill in order to protect his family. He was born into a life he never wanted, but he will do whatever needs to be done to ensure his brothers are happy. He may be a villain by most people’s standards, but I couldn’t help but love him. The true villain is their father who’s actions were beyond description in their horror. This story was an exciting ride full of twists and turns, drama, angst, action, emotion, passion, and loyalty. As a fan of the Mayet Justice series, I loved seeing Minka, Archer, Cato, and Tim show up from Copeland City. However, plenty of context was provided that you can definitely enjoy this book as a standalone! I was so shocked by the direction this plot went at times! What an awesome book!! I can’t wait for the next one!!

The audio narrated by Audrey Obeyn and Dane Anderson really brought these characters to life!! Every plot twist, action scene, and all the spice felt even more intense!! I highly recommend this version!!😍
