Historia
Over two unbelievable decades, the New England Patriots were not only the NFL's most dominant team, but also - and by far - the most secretive. How did they achieve and sustain greatness - and what were the costs? In It's Better to Be Feared, Seth Wickersham, one of the country's finest long form and investigative sportswriters, tells the full, behind-the-scenes story of the Patriots, capturing the brilliance, ambition, and vanity that powered and ultimately unraveled them.

Had such high hopes for this
Revisado: 11-27-24
It’s more of a Tom Brady book than a Patriots book. I like TB, but this was a bit much. I guess I was expecting something different. Can we please get a real, not woke leftist journalist/author to write a book, please? We get it, you don’t like Trump or anyone who supports him. The author comes across like many leftist do as patronizing and unable to separate feelings over facts. It’s so tiring. Also, very little went into Robert Kraft’s legal stuff, but a lot went into hating on Bill Belichick because he likes Trump and was mean. I’m sure the author had bad run-ins with BB, and positive ones with RK, but try and write an unbiased book. I guess when you’re compromised or paid off, you sell out and write based on feelings. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this book and would never listen to another book of his.

Historia
Aaron Rodgers is among the two or three most talented players to ever hold the most important job in American team sports–quarterback. He also stands as the most mysterious and polarizing figure in the modern-day national pastime that is professional football. From his controversial Covid stance to his methods of spiritual awakening to his estrangement from his family to his high-profile romances to his devastating Achilles injury a mere four plays into his New York Jets career, Rodgers has long dominated the NFL’s news cycle.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 08-26-24
I was hoping to hear more about Aaron Rodgers the person and what makes him unique. Instead we got a bunch of filler about NFL games that didn’t mean much overall in the grand scheme of things, considering we can watch what happened on YouTube. I purchased this book to get stories and accounts from Aaron himself, instead it seemed he barely was involved and the author needed to just get anyone to comment or add in his own personal opinions and cheap shots. I didn’t buy this book for the authors opinion. I hope someone else or Aaron writes his own book that will explain more. My feeling is the author knew this would sell regardless of how much effort he put into it since Aaron Rodgers is polarizing and famous, and it showed. Beyond disappointed. I’d only recommend if it was free.

Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world.

Best Crichton book ever
Revisado: 07-28-22
This is the best book Crichton has ever written and that is saying a lot. I have read every book he has written, and this one is a masterpiece. It is controversial in regards to questioning climate change/global warming, because how dare anyone challenge that. Although it was written in the early 2000’s, it still rings true today. Just like in real life, the climate change/global warming movement is more of a group that bullies people into shaming their beliefs rather than letting science speak for itself. If your argument is valid, you shouldn’t have to use violence, threats, or name calling to convince others it’s true. I value diversity of ideas and thoughts, we get nowhere if we shame others for thinking differently. This book is so spot on today, it’s eerie. We no longer listen to others, we immediately label them a climate denier and move on. Even though it is a fictional book based on the fictional situations, Crichton’s research into the science is spot on. I especially love the last 20 minutes worth where he explains his side, it humanizes it, considering he doesn’t normally do that in his books, he even admits some may find it controversial. I highly recommend this book to anyone with an open mind. Eugenics=Climate change bullies.

Historia
Picture yourself in the Cretaceous period. It’s a sunny afternoon in the Hell Creek of ancient Montana 66 million years ago. A Triceratops horridus ambles along the edge of the forest. In a matter of hours, everything here will be wiped away. Lush verdure will be replaced with fire. Tyrannosaurus rex will be toppled from their throne, along with every other species of non-avian dinosaur no matter their size, diet, or disposition. They just don’t know it yet.

I don’t get all the positive reviews, most likely they’re all his friends. Sadly, I think we’re so desperate for a good book on the Chicxulub impact and the catastrophic events we lower our expectations. I really wanted to like it, it just misses the mark on so many things. I don’t understand how he was able to get permission discussing such an important subject. You would think you would want an actual Paleontologist or someone who actually works at the location to write such an important topic. I am so disappointed, I love the Chicxulub impact and study it feverishly. I can think of a handful more qualified scientists who should’ve written this book. I wouldn’t recommend it if was free. I’m just grateful I get to return it. I will make sure the next time I buy a book, he isn’t the author.

Historia
In I’m Your Emotional Support Animal, Adam Carolla examines how our culture went careening off a cliff. We used to have one that created real warriors who fought world wars. Now it spawns social justice warriors who fight Twitter wars. He takes on those who are traumatized by Trump and “emotional support animal” owners who proclaim their victimhood at every airport. He stands up for the collateral damage of the #MeToo movement and for freedom of speech on “safe space” filled college campuses.

Hilariously accurate!
Revisado: 08-03-21
This is the single greatest audiobook I have. I highly recommend it! Not only does Adam narrate it, he free-forms and adds extra nuggets of hilarious content. As someone who isn’t offended by the wind blowing like many of the SJW’s out there, it’s a must read. If you’re offended easily, this probably isn’t for you, but staying in your “safe space” of life probably isn’t working too. Anyone who likes to laugh, and can take a joke, this is definitely for you. It’s just nice knowing at least one person in Hollywood isn’t a complete douche. Adam for president!

Historia
What caused the extinction of the dinosaurs? Walter Alvarez, one of the Berkeley scientists who discovered evidence of the impact, tells the story behind the development of the initially controversial theory. It is a saga of high adventure in remote locations, of arduous data collection and intellectual struggle, of long periods of frustration ended by sudden breakthroughs, of friendships made and lost, and of the exhilaration of discovery that forever altered our understanding of Earth's geological history.

Fascinating book!
Revisado: 08-21-20
This is probably my favorite non-fiction book of all time. It details the evidence of the cataclysmic event 65 MYA, and the fallout from it. I am a total junkie and can’t get enough when it comes to anything Chicxulub, so I may be a bit bias. It is definitely science based, but not boring, which is a rare combination. Some authors go too deep to prove how intelligent they are by using words and jargon no one knows, not this book or author. If you’re at all interested in this historic event, you’ll love this book.
I thought the narrator was great too. I am unsure what a previous review about whispering was about, a soft voice, yes, whispering, not quite. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
