Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Interesting topic
Revisado: 09-13-19
It was a good book. I would have preferred it if Malcolm Gladwell would have read the quotes instead of playing recorded audio from the original source. There were times when the audio quality was not as good as if it had been read in a studio. The content was excellent.

From iconic books like Neuromancer to blockbuster films like The Matrix, virtual reality has long been hailed as the ultimate technology. But outside of a few research labs and military training facilities, this tantalizing vision of the future was nothing but science fiction. Until 2012, when Oculus founder Palmer Luckey - then just a rebellious teenage dreamer living alone in a camper trailer - invents a device that has the potential to change everything.

Revisado: 04-07-19
Great listen. I felt it was a little too gushy about Palmer Lucky, but I suppose that should be expected. At times I felt the author came off as a bit of a Palmer Lucky fanboy. But aside from those mildly irritating portions, I very much enjoyed it.

Historia
Nothing seems more real than the minds of other people. When you consider what your boss is thinking or whether your spouse is happy, you are admitting them into the "mind club". It's easy to assume other humans can think and feel, but what about a cow, a computer, a corporation? What kinds of minds do they have? Daniel M. Wegner and Kurt Gray are award-winning psychologists who have discovered that minds - while incredibly important - are a matter of perception.

Soon the current model of aggregated free content populated with "value-subtracted" advertising will die a natural deat. In Life After Google, Gilder takes listeners on a brilliant, rocketing journey into the very near-future, into an Internet with a new "bitcoin-bitgold" transaction layer that will replace spam with seamless micro-payments and provide an all-new standard for global money.

For those who love whiny old white guys...
Revisado: 08-03-18
So, I was hoping for some interesting insight into crypto currency, but got stuck listening to this whiny little bitch complain about how the world is too liberal these days for 9 hours. I'm sure if you're one of those Fox news loving Trump can do nothing wrong types, you'll probably love this book... but it's definitely not my bag.

Historia
The God Particle (Higgs boson) is the greatest discovery in history. It was only recently made in Geneva Switzerland by scientists using the Large Hadron Collider, the most expensive scientific experiment ever conceived by the human mind. This newly discovered particle or field is more important and more profound than the discovery of the Atom because the God Particle is the force that defines all the atoms and all the elements contained in everything in the entire universe.

NEW AGE CRAP!
Revisado: 12-17-12
What would have made God Particle Physics for Dummies: Volume 1 better?
This is a terrible audio book. It is not what it claims to be and has nothing to do with the Higgs Boson. It is not about Physics, it is some sort of new age self help book that claims you can put your vibrations in tune with the God Particle and use it's power to get what you want. It is complete and total nonsense. It sounds like it was recorded in someone's basement. Some guy is using the discovery of the Higgs Boson to trick people into buying an audio book that has nothing to do with the 'God Particle'.
Would you be willing to try another one of Michael Mathiesen’s performances?
Absolutely not. I'm going to ask for my money back.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from God Particle Physics for Dummies: Volume 1?
I would not have published this blatant attempt to rip people off.
Any additional comments?
This is a blatant scam. It has nothing to do with the God Particle, I can't imagine this guy is actually a physicist.

How much can CEO’s impact the performance of their companies? And does higher pay incentivize people to work hard? If you think the answers to these questions are a matter of common sense, think again.

Listen to this book and rethink everything!
Revisado: 04-18-12
I had not heard of Duncan Watts when I first listened to this book... but since I've noticed he's been sited in several other books I've read recently. If this book doesn't change the way you view the world you are a more evolved person than I. Between reading this book, and 'How to Measure Anything' this year, I feel like my mind has been turned upside down.
Read Duncan Watts, read Douglas Hubbard, then go out and change the world!

Historia
Anything can be measured. This bold assertion is the key to solving many problems in business and life in general. The myth that certain things can't be measured is a significant drain on our nation's economy, public welfare, the environment, and even national security. In fact, the chances are good that some part of your life or your professional responsibilities is greatly harmed by a lack of measurement---by you, your firm, or even your government.

This book has changed my life!
Revisado: 04-18-12
This book has changed the way I think about my life and my business. Since reading this book my head has been filled with ideas for quantifying and measuring everything. Not everything should be measured... but after reading this you'll start to believe that anything can be measured.
Also wanted to mention that since listening to this book I have picked up 'Pulse' by the same author. It was also a good book, but not quite to the level of 'How to Measure Anything' IMHO.

Historia
Over the past few decades, a handful of scientists have been racing to explain a disturbing aspect of our universe: only four percent of it consists of the matter that makes up you, me, our books, and every star and planet. The rest is completely unknown. Richard Panek tells the dramatic story of the quest to find this “dark” matter and an even more bizarre substance called “dark energy”. This is perhaps the greatest mystery in all of science, and solving it will bring fame, funding, and certainly a Nobel Prize.
