Historia
David Spade is best known for his harsh "Hollywood Minute" sketches on SNL, his starring roles in movies like Tommy Boy and Joe Dirt, and his seven-year stint as Dennis Finch on the series Just Shoot Me. Now, with a wit as dry as the weather in his home state of Arizona, the "comic brat extraordinaire" delivers a memoir.

King of snark
Revisado: 01-06-22
I’ve always enjoyed David Spade’s incredibly snarky humor. His journey is that of an underdog, self-deprecating yet tenacious…..”winning” over all.

Historia
Anyone who saw an episode of Saturday Night Live between 1999 and 2006 knows Rachel Dratch. She was hilarious! So what happened to her? After a misbegotten part as Jenna on the pilot of 30 Rock, Dratch was only getting offered roles as "Lesbians. Secretaries. Sometimes secretaries who are lesbians." Her career at a low point, Dratch suddenly had time for yoga, dog- sitting, learning Spanish - and dating. After all, what did a forty-something single woman living in New York have to lose?

Exceeded my expectations
Revisado: 11-15-21
Rachel was never my favorite performer on SNL, but I was never a super devoted fan of the show either. Her book is funny, self deprecating and just human. Rachel is hilarious in the telling of her memoir, while still coming across as thoughtful, introspective and resilient. She is the sort of person I would want as a friend.

Historia
Michelle Williams, an attractive young woman with close family ties and an active social life, describes her first extraordinary year in her unusual new job as a mortuary technician. It’s a year in which, with innate good humour, she encounters death at its most tragic, bizarre, and hilarious. Her tale, neither gruesome nor sad, is enlivened by a range of colourful and eccentric characters, from pathologists and coroners to hospital porters and undertakers, giving us a glimpse of life - and death - that few of us will ever experience.

Compelling
Revisado: 04-24-12
The further into the story the more engaged I became. At first I thought the story was just ok. The more I listened the more endearing the accent and British colloquialisms became. I became more enamoured with the narrator- both author's voice and the reader's physical voice won me over. It was an easy, enjoyable, humorous, and educational listen.

Historia
Hidden somewhere, in nearly every major city in the world, is an underground seduction lair. And in these lairs, men trade the most devastatingly effective techniques ever invented to charm women. This is not fiction. These men really exist. They live together in houses known as Projects. And Neil Strauss, the best-selling author, spent two years living among them, using the pseudonym Style to protect his real-life identity. The result is one of the most explosive and controversial books of the year.

I was disappointed when the book came to an end
Revisado: 02-20-12
Neil Strauss is an excellent story-teller and this particular book lends itself to an audio version quite well. This is because the story itself is incredibly compelling and as Strauss tells it, he moves the story along. When reading a book, I tend to skim parts that are uninteresting to me or seemingly irrelevant to the main plot. In an audio book, I just lose the story and my mind drifts. My mind did not wander away from this story at any point, I was riveted and very disappointed when the book ended. I liked that the author narrated his own story. He has some distinctive enunciations that take some getting used to, but after while they become endearing.
