The story was the same level of fantastic that we’ve come to enjoy from Jack Campbell. The use of two narrators switching off with the change of perspectives was a brave choice but was a bit disconcerting and felt unbalanced.

This sets up a dangerous collision between the Krackus fleets and the conclave ships.

The Gate Ghost Series keeps opening more intriguing storylines just when you think you’ve seen sentience in every package deliverable, and every culture a vortex open on to. A lot of fun, and refreshingly positive. I’m enjoying the series more and more.

Considering the wide canvas and number of storylines that needed to be joined, Conclave had a lot of work to accomplish. I thought it fared well. It left a lot of room for further stories or for the imagination to explore on its own. Nicole Poole did an excellent job on the Pyreans series, so I was very happy when she was called off the bench to finish the series (due to Grover Gardener's unavailability) I thought she did great. Gardner's Julian, Miranda & Z voices were sorely missed, but I enjoyed all the new characters -and those were legion!

Yes, this was definitely the book fans of the series have been waiting for. Dennis E. Taylor picks up where he left off with most of the main characters from the series while adding a few more. He mysteriously combines really high brow science with some good old low brow humor and enough nerd lore to kill a quantum cat! A bit saltier than the original books, but I can live with that. Ray Porter was his usual level 11 awesome. Double plus freaking fantastic!

HORRIBLE NARRATION!

I love the Silver Ship series. Until SADES the series had a great narrator in Grover Gardner. Apparently the new narrator did not listen to any of his narrations. That would be the only explanation for the numerous, irritating mutilations of the key character's and place names. Even the one named after the famous philosopher Desecrate she pronounces 'Dez cart ezes'! Did she not listen to the books at all? Her narrating is very good. Her voice-acting, (the difference between audiobooks and computer read text) is non-existent. So bad it is difficult to determine if Alex or Rene is the one talking. Zee's Germanic accent and Miranda's sultry feme-fatalle gone forever? Very sad. Still love the series, but will have to switch to reading it.

An amazing, and startling, and eye-opening read. I started a new diet that recommended cutting back on wheat because even whole wheat was not in fact very healthy for you. Then I read this book... Now I'm off wheat completely, and hope to stay off it.

I loved this book! Not that I’m anti-zombie or road warrior style post apocalypse stories. But it’s unbelievably refreshing to read (listen to) a story about good people working their way through a terrible situation. In fact, I’m going to listen to it again right now. And you can’t stop me...
