Not a lot of easily digestible information out there about this topic.

Historia
Booker T. Washington fought his way out of slavery to become an educator, statesman, political shaper, and proponent of the "do-it-yourself" idea. In his autobiography, he describes his early life as a slave on a Virginia plantation, his steady rise during the Civil War, his struggle for education, his schooling at the Hampton Institute, and his years as founder and president of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, which was devoted to helping minorities learn useful, marketable skills.

In this shocking exposé, former EHM John Perkins gives an insider view into the corrupt system that cheats and strong-arms countries around the globe out of trillions of dollars and ultimately causes staggering income inequality and ecological devastation.

Too well written?
Revisado: 01-14-24
This story is so fascinating and so well told that it hurts the credibility. If I didn't believe this stuff going in, I would have found it uncredible. Reads like a James Bond movie.

Historia
Written in 1941, this is the book that theorized how the world was moving into the hands of the "managers". Burnham explains how capitalism had virtually lost its control, and would be displaced not by labour, nor by socialism, but by the rule of administrators in business and in government.

Read by a computer, interesting theory, not quite accurate.
Revisado: 01-29-23
The worst thing about the book is that it sounds as if it were read by a computer. The idea of the managerial revolution is interesting. I think parts of it played out as the author predicted but a lot of it didn't. (Written in 1941). Although the U.S. does seem to be increasingly run by managers, the societies that were the most managerial in nature (Nazi Germany and The Soviet Union) are no longer present. The capitalist system ultimately won (for now). The prediction that a capitalist economy could not produce war material as fast as a managerial economy turned out to be hilariously false. The military industrial complex is alive and well still to this day. The book is about as dry as Marx Capital but more reasonable in length.

In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Historia
This classic work of political theory and practice offers an account of the modern Machiavellians, a remarkable group who have been influential in Europe and practically unknown in the United States. The book devotes a long section to Machiavelli himself as well as to such modern Machiavellians as Gaetano Mosca, Georges Sorel, Robert Michels and Vilfredo Pareto. Burnham contends that the writings of these men hold the key both to the truth about politics and to the preservation of political liberty.

Conclusion is correct
Revisado: 08-21-22
The book is a little dry at times. More of an academic book. The ending conclusion is correct. Everyone should read the final few paragraphs. Politicians are dangerous people and should be under great scrutiny anytime they place restrictions on liberty.

Most important book I have read.
Revisado: 08-16-22
This is probably the most important book concerning WW2. A thorough analysis of how the NAZI party came to power and how they governed. It isn't often that an outsider gets the chance to analyze the documents of a ruling political party. I wonder what skeletons are buried in the government that we support.

Insightful
Revisado: 07-10-21
Heard about this book on The Mikhaila Peterson Podcast. I gained some very useful information from this book. It really helps you see things from your partner’s point of view. I actually found this book much more helpful than the book that the author recommends at the end, No More Mr Nice Guy. It seems to be written for a very specific type of man that I cannot relate to.

Historia
In 1929 Stalin launched his policy of agricultural collectivization - in effect a second Russian Revolution - which forced millions of peasants off their land and onto collective farms. The result was a catastrophic famine, the most lethal in European history. At least five million people died between 1931 and 1933 in the USSR. But instead of sending relief, the Soviet state made use of the catastrophe to rid itself of a political problem.

Historia
Dish up the red meat, eggs, and whole milk! In this well-researched and captivating narrative, veteran food writer Nina Teicholz proves how everything we've been told about fat is wrong. For decades, Americans have cut back on red meat and dairy products full of "bad" saturated fats. We obediently complied with nutritional guidelines to eat "heart healthy" fats found in olive oil, fish, and nuts, and followed a Mediterranean diet heavy on fruits, vegetables, and grains. Yet the nation's health has declined. What is going on?
