I'm American but this is just dumb American logic... I get you should suspend reality to enjoy books like these but come on! Countries spend billions and in the case of America trillions on their armies and gathering intelligence. !Spoiler! It's always some retired military personnel who spend a few years at best in the military (probably grunts.) that saves the world because they visit some conspiracy bullsh1t sites and have some gears... You have brave men and women who are at the peak of physical health, have the latest in what's going on in the world but no they can't compete against some out-of-shape former military person who use to be in the military with guns that never run out of ammo.

In a post-apocalyptic world who would gamble their lives and their family on a leader who everyone knew was a screw-up, they displayed no leadership abilities, and they're better more quality people who could actually lead. This book. lol

I'm a fan of space exploration, love science, and the apocalyptic angles but this felt like a romance novel featuring Superman and Louis lane... 1 man to save the world and 1 woman to love him it's just too cheesy for me.

An interesting spin on a fairytale feel good love story, a lonely neglected youth who gets adopted by foster payment parents who befriends an apparition he found in the fields that no one else can see… like all story it had the potential to better but the narrator and the writer didn’t step up enough… overall a good story.
