Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Incredible fantasy
Revisado: 04-07-25
The worldbuilding is intricate, the magic is unique and well developed, easily on par with authors like Brandon Sanderson. The twists are actually unexpected but also well foreshadowed. I don’t usually like anything using 2nd person narration, but it is used so specifically in this book that it really adds to the story rather than takes away from it.

Incredible storytelling with many real world issues intertwined
Revisado: 03-17-25
Great to listen to while gardening, has reminded me how important it is to save my own seeds. It’s so hard to find a book that simultaneously tells a good story with realistic characters and is sharing incredibly important and accurate facts. Such a good look at a sliver of American history and how it continues to impact our lives.

The dragons have the best personalities since Pern
Revisado: 03-08-25
Such a great dragon book, I can’t wait to see where this story goes. The story is kind of a slice of life vibe, as there isn’t a lot of action. However I didn’t even notice as the characters were enthralling and the world building impeccable. The LGBT+ and native representation was incredible.
However what really stood out is how well the dragons were presented, so many different dragons and unique designs. Each dragon had their own distinct personality and I loved them all so much. The baby dragons playing almost like kittens really captured my heart

Great story steeped in Appalachian magic
Revisado: 10-18-24
Very authentic to everything I know about Appalachian magic and the time periods chosen made for a very interesting read that felt like historic fiction with extra supernatural flavor.

I love this enchanting couplet of a series
Revisado: 10-05-24
Star Father and Star Mother are so well done. The worldbuilding is excellent while being easy to grasp as it is so rooted in fantasy mythology that is not of this world. It yet reminiscent of the myths we are familiar with.
I also love how each story in this 2 book series is a companion book to one another rather than this just being a sequel. I adore both books.

I really appreciated the way this book is reminiscent of a mythology retelling but the gods demi-gods, and godlings of this story are unique and enchanting.

An incredible story and addition to the Avatar universe
Revisado: 03-18-24
I absolutely adore this story for so many reasons. It can hold its own as a stand alone story, but it also adds so much depth the the avatar universe without creating massive contradictions when comparing it to the main animated franchise. The characters are well built and the main characters are multi dimensional with growth throughout the story.

Historia
The man who became known as Esrahaddon is reported to have destroyed the world’s greatest empire—but there are those who believe he saved it. Few individuals are as divisive, but all agree on three facts: He was exiled to the wilderness, hunted by a goblin priestess, and sentenced to death by a god—all before the age of eight. How he managed to survive and why people continued to fear his name a thousand years later has always been a mystery...until now.

Fantastic worldbuilding!
Revisado: 01-11-24
I absolutely adored this book and the foundations it lays for Riyria Revelations. I loved the glimpse into the goblin society that none of the other books have shown. I’m not sure if it would do well as a stand-alone story but paired with the prequels and sequels it is an absolute masterpiece.

An excellent conclusion the the Skyward series, colored in by a cast of characters who have all really come into their own. The final fight was very satisfying and the conclusion well foreshadowed throughout the series and final book
