Revisado: 12-14-20
The narration couldn’t be improved on. Really did bring the characters alive. First rate. Very good story too. I couldn’t wait to listen to the next installment.Mickey Haller and Bosch. Like to read more of this combination. I really enjoy the Lincoln Lawyer series. Would like to have heard how Bishop ended up. More could have been made of his involvement in plot. Thoroughly good listen.

Dull.
Revisado: 05-05-20
If this was the first McDermid book I had ever read perhaps I would have a different opinion. However, it wasn’t and I haven’t. The appeal of many McDermid books are Tony and Carol. And both of them are pretty well bit part players throughout. The things Tony always did well never appeared. The references to Tony’s book at the start of every chapter were pointless. The plot was over complex and fizzled out. No excitement. No would he or wouldn’t he. No. It was dull. The narrator was excellent. He made the characters different. He was the best feature. Sorry to rubbish it but compared to the Tony Hill personality made famous in Wire in the Blood this book was a poor relative.

Historia
A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Excellent book. Excellent read.
Revisado: 11-29-19
Thiis was my second Adam Mitzner book. I read A Matter of Will last week and enjoyed that book so much I went straight for another of his works. I was not disappointed. It was a real ‘page turner’. Right to the final moments it was a gripping read. Never expected the ending as laid out.
The narration by Kevin T Collins was outstanding. The best narration from any book I’ve listened to from almost 50 books. He really made the characters come alive, both male and female. He didn’t just read he performed it. The feeling he portrayed at different times in the book were excellent.
I don’t know if Dan Sorenson, the lawyer in this piece, makes a return from Martinique but I hope so. I have no doubt whatsoever that my next book will be another Mitzner work. Probably, A Conflict of Interest or Losing Faith. Let’s hope for more of the same.

Revisado: 05-04-19
I really enjoyed this book. I like dramas with a lot of court time. I enjoyed all the drama that took place in the courtroom. The book was never boring. I’d like to see the conviction of Sean. Also I would like to have known if the relationship between Sarah and Simon improved. It was a solid piece of work. Definitely recommend this book and I will read more of the same author.

Final book relapse
Revisado: 04-20-19
I read the entire series of books and enjoyed them all until this last book. I suppose it was inevitable it would fade to the end. There weren’t any significant plots in this last book. It was recounted stories of what we already knew. It was pleasant learning about the younger Clifton’s and Barrington’s but didn’t really grab your attention. A very emotive ending which was good but disappointed that Victoria Fennick didn’t get her just rewards. Six books excellent. The last book lack luster.

An excellent finish.
Revisado: 03-02-19
You might think that four books into this series of books and the story and characters might be losing their gloss. Well not one bit. Archers is an excellent story teller and his characters, good and bad, remain completely believable.
One surprise was the fish paste story that didn’t seem to be developed at all. I would have liked it discussed more.
The final moments of the book really leave you guessing. The end cannot be as simple as we are lead to believe but on the other hand Archer is not afraid of killing off principal characters. I’m sorry for the demise of Jessica. I would like to have seen how her future panned out.
I’ve already downloaded the fifth book and look forward to starting it later today.
The narration throughout is first class. The variety of accents and dialects are all very plausibly different.

It’s rumoured that Dickens wanted to return to his classic novel Oliver Twist, to bring him back into a later book as an older character, but he never managed this before he died. However, if Oliver had returned, what would he have been like? Would the scars of his childhood affect the man he would become? And what of ‘Dodger’, sent to a land halfway around the world, his friend, mentor and master dead because of Oliver? Dodge & Twist is that story. The tale of two boys, 12 years later, returning into each other’s lives - for both good and bad.

Revisado: 02-15-19
I got this book because I had a few days before I was to receive new credits. It was the first dramatized listen I had heard. I quite enjoyed the ambience of the read and the story was reasonable enough. The actors were good. But I would prefer a novel any day.

This far into a series of books it would be expected that the story might be losing some of its direction or interest but not at all. I really can’t wait to download the fourth book. Archer is a good story teller and every chapter is necessary and engaging.

The characters at the heart of this series are ones in which the reader can identity with at all levels. The way in which the author writes is very appealing. The individual emphasis in layers telling the intertwined stories of the characters. I’ve read two of the series and Archer maintains an interesting story throughout. I can’t wait to start the third book already waiting on my IPad

An epic ride
Revisado: 08-02-18
From the outset this book was an outstanding listen. The complex nature of the interrelated issues between the Saracen and the Pilgrim were intelligently connected in great detail. The infinite amounts of history in each of their lives brilliantly described and made to seem very real. An excellent book.
The narrative was first rate too and it was very easy to identify the variety of different characters by the changing voices of the narrator. At times it seemed impossible for there to be only one person involved.
