Lama Surya Das helps American listeners (readers) to truly identify with the predominantly Eastern traditions of Buddhism. Although his accent gets distracting (the author/narrator is from Long Island, FYI), he lets it be known that an American/Westerner, with American struggles, American strengths, and the daily life of an American is completely compatible with Buddha. For the most part I absolutely loved it. I went back several times to re-listen and write things down.

Any additional comments?

If you're looking for something entertaining but with great breadth, this is your book. I found the narrator to be spectacular and obviously, Victor Hugo's writing is superb. Its a long listen, but worth every minute.

Although the books were published in a different order, The Magician's Nephew is an excellent way to start the Chronicles of Narnia. It gives you the story of the creation of Narnia and the origin of the wardrobe in beautiful, allegorical detail.
