This book is so great. Each woman’s narrative is perfectly written and performed. There is so much depth to each story and there are layers to the characters that leave you thinking about them after you finish each section. This book is a beautiful tapestry woven by a genius artist.

Loved this author’s first book. Ignored the critical reviews on this site but they were right. I stuck it out til the end but it just got worse. Over all, kind of a mess.

An amazing summer book

Learned quite a lot!

This is an important book. Read it and really understand the food industrial complex. It’s a bit scary. Time to take back how we consume and purchase food. I feel ready and prepared to do so after reading.

This one has it all

Each character is so well developed by the author. The narrator performs all of the voices and dialogue superbly. The plot is incredibly engaging. I am not a big reader of fantasy. It’s just not my usual genre. But I am a huge fan of Link’s skill at capturing adolescence and teen life. Really glad that I listened.

Good historical content

Julia Whelan at the narrator’s mike sold me on listening to this book. The scenes in Vietnam Nam were compelling, as were the main character’s burdened return to stateside. Other parts of the story were uneven with more than a few overdone cliches. Worth listening if you are interested in the themes of Vietnam Nam service.

Very well-written and performed

At first I wasn’t sure that I understood where the book was going but I am so glad that I stuck with it. It’s a whole tapestry of American studies research with one place at its center. There’s also a lot of dry humor directed to the listener and very well performed by the narrators, Highly recommend!

Learned so much more about the Holocaust

While I never studied the Holocaust, I thought that I knew the basics. However, I recently watched “The Zone of Interest” and “Origin” and realized that I needed to understand more, understand better. This book is an in depth description of day-to-day life in the labor camps where so many millions were imprisoned, abused, terrorized and tortured. It’s an important book, not for the faint of heart. Be brave, listen and learn.
