Historia
As one of the music world’s most iconic artists and the cofounder of the organizations ONE and (RED), Bono’s career has been written about extensively. But in Surrender, it’s Bono who picks up the pen, writing for the first time about his remarkable life and those he has shared it with. In his unique voice, Bono takes us from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was fourteen, to U2’s unlikely journey to become one of the world’s most influential rock bands, to his more than twenty years of activism.

Bona Vox strikes again.
Revisado: 05-22-24
There's nothing, not one thing, I don't like about this audiobook, Apart from the fact that Bono's story takes me back to my younger years, those teenage years when U2 music made life so much better, Bono's reading is one of the best performances I've ever listened to. I loved his talking-straight attitude, his sense of irony, and... did I mention his voice?

Historia
I met Jamie Fraser when I was 19 years old. He was tall, redheaded, and, at our first meeting at least, a virgin. I fell in love hard, fast, and completely. He knew how to ride a horse, wield a sword, and stitch a wound. He was, in fact, the perfect man. That he was fictional hardly entered into it.

Long live the Frasers
Revisado: 11-11-22
I liked Finding Fraser so much, perhaps too much. I think I'm going to be in good company, though, since there"s not one Outlander fan out there who hasn't entertained the same fancy idea as our Emma. The Narrator has done a remarkable job with her alternating American English and Scottish brogue, which didn't prevent me from enjoying the narrative flow, it actually enhanced it. There are many comic moments in Emma's journey around Scotland and just as many that make for her learning curve about herself and the people she love, but it's only when I reached the last scene, the very last lines, that I came across what I'd call the perfect ending. Without a single doubt.

Historia
After spending the last 10 years in prison, Zak, former DAMC president, has a few priorities: to reconnect with his “brothers”, to get drunk, and to get laid. Not necessarily in that order. When he spots a stunning woman in the clubhouse and mistakes her for one of the club’s strippers, those priorities get a bit skewed.

Velvet cupcakes can take you a looong way

I really enjoyed Sophia and Zach's story and the narrators' ability to switch between male and female characters, as well as to give each of them their own voice, had certainly a lot to do with that.

Historia
A story about a boy who dreamed of rock and roll. A story about a girl who dreamed about a boy. An epic, all-consuming love story about betrayal, loss and learning, that spans over 20 years. This is the story of us: "I was just 11 years old, but I knew without a shadow of a doubt I was staring into the eyes of the boy I was going to love forever." An edgy coming-of-age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades.

I loved Carnage soooo much. The story is a really good one and the narrator did an awesome job with the rendering of the characters's diverse feelings and emotions. A beautiful, emotionally demanding journey.

Historia
I am Comet Caldwell. And I sort of, kind of, absolutely hate my name. People expect extraordinary things from a girl named Comet. That she’ll be effortlessly cool and light up a room the way a comet blazes across the sky. But from the shyness that makes her book-character friends more appealing than real people to the parents whose indifference hurts more than an open wound, Comet has never wanted to be the center of attention. When new student Tobias King blazes in from America and shakes up the school, Comet thinks she’s got the bad boy figured out.

I really loved Comet and Tobias's story, their dynamics in friendship and budding love, as well as the reader' s Scottish accent and modulations of her voice. Along Comet and Tobias, there are also very well portrayed secondary characters, who all contribute to make The Fragile Ordinary a great listen.

The year is 1739. Eliza Lucas is sixteen years old when her father leaves her in charge of their family’s three plantations in rural South Carolina and then proceeds to bleed the estates dry in pursuit of his military ambitions. Tensions with the British, and with the Spanish in Florida, just a short way down the coast, are rising, and slaves are starting to become restless. Her mother wants nothing more than for their South Carolina endeavor to fail so they can go back to England. Soon her family is in danger of losing everything.

Historical novel at its best
Revisado: 03-24-18
A wonderful story and an amazingly talented narrator make The Indigo Girl a little gem. Adventures in a new-born America are in wait for Miss Eliza, together with a hard lesson too. Natasha Boyd was a new author to me and this book was a recommended read for the RARE18ROME Signing she will attend next June. I'd say I have found another go-to author in the historical romance genre. The Indigo Girl is a great coming-of-age novel and with the Eliza character Author Boyd has perfectly captured the spirit of the late 1700 America, as well as family dynamics and society expectations at the time.
Narrator Maarleveld's voice extension and colouring are perfect with both male and female characters, regardless of their age or ethnicity, and make each characters' personalities stand out.
A totally well-deserved 5-star rating.
