Historia
All of us long to know what life after death will be like. Best-selling author John Burke is no exception. In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets?

This was a happy mind break for me! It’s maybe somewhat predictable but not like a Hallmark movie at all. I was definitely charmed.

Historia
Laurie is sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend, Sarah, giddily introduces her new boyfriend: the man from the bus.

Amazing narration, can’t say the same about story
Revisado: 11-14-23
This story is meh. I wanted to like it. It’s much more sexually explicit than I prefer. The heroine’s love interest, Jack, leaves a lot to be desired. I’m not sure what she sees in him. He has a bad attitude and shags virtually every woman he bumps into throughout the story. Was hoping for something much better especially given the ratings.
The only redeeming aspect was the narration. The narrator, Eleanor Tomlinson, is gifted. I will look for other books she’s narrated.

This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

Historia
Ff we spend our lives trying to be “the strong one,” we become exhausted, burned-out, and disconnected from our truest selves. What if it were different? Could there be a different way to be strong? Could strength mean more than pushing on and pushing through pain, bearing every heavy burden on our own? What if, instead, true strength were more like the tide: soft and bold, fierce and gentle, moving together as one powerful force? In Strong like Water, author and trauma therapist Aundi Kolber offers a framework for true flourishing.

Revisado: 08-14-23
I love this book and cannot recommend it enough. It takes all of my clinical and theoretical leanings and blends them together beautifully with a sincere, lived-out faith. If you can't go to therapy, but need it, start here. I just finished Kolber's follow-up book, Strong Like Water, and think it is a phenomenal follow-up to this one, providing many uncomplicated practices to help calm your nervous system.

Historia
When Katelyn Loveland’s car veered off a winding Appalachian Mountain road, she thought she was done for. That is until Cooper Robinson, local sheriff’s deputy, came to her rescue. And though Katie narrowly escaped her brush with death, she still fell. Hard. She wasn’t the only one. But soon Cooper learns that the woman he’s more attracted to than any he’s ever met is his brother’s new girlfriend - and therefore unquestionably off limits. Yet, despite their best efforts, Cooper and Katie can’t seem to avoid running into each other.

Story had potential, but...
Revisado: 10-13-22
The storyline itself was good, though predictable (think Hallmark Channel). The characters were under-developed and were essentially all the same. The narration would have been better if the narrator didn't even attempt voice changes. At times she did and others she didn't. It kind of messed with the story for me a bit. I do appreciate the faith elements and that it wasn't raunchy at all.

It's a radical, provocative idea: We're not entitled to get offended or stay angry. The idea of our own "righteous anger" is a myth. It is the number-one problem in our societies today and, as Dallas Willard says, Christians have not been taught out of it.

I have a love hate relationship with this book. I want to argue the points but don’t know how. The author’s wit and humor make it a very easy listen. His anecdotes are also perfectly fitted in each scenario.

I love how this has actual events of the author's family's history, as well as world history, woven into the story. The narration on this book is the best I have heard on Audible, bar none. Do yourself a favor, and listen to this one.
