Historia
Beth and her gentle, kind husband Frank are happily married, but their relationship relies on the past staying buried. But when Beth’s brother-in-law shoots a dog going after their sheep, Beth doesn’t realize that the gunshot will alter the course of their lives. For the dog belonged to none other than Gabriel Wolfe, the man Beth loved as a teenager—the man who broke her heart years ago. Gabriel has returned to the village with his young son Leo, a boy who reminds Beth very much of her own son, who died in a tragic accident.

Her best friend and comrade-in-arms is the beautiful and endlessly self-possessed Bobbi. Historia
High School is the revelatory and unique coming-of-age story of Sara and Tegan Quin, identical twins from Calgary, Alberta, who grew up at the height of grunge and rave culture in the '90s, well before they became the celebrated musicians and global LGBTQ icons we know today. While grappling with their identity and sexuality, often alone, they also faced academic meltdown, their parents’ divorce, and the looming pressure of what might come after high school. This is the origin story of Tegan and Sara.

I absolutely devoured this book! Sara and Tegan are gifted authors and I loved the music samples they used throughout. Whenever they’re ready to write the next part of their story I’m totally here for it!

Historia
When Mark Lanegan first arrived in Seattle in the mid-1980s, he was just "an arrogant, self-loathing redneck waster seeking transformation through rock 'n' roll." Little did he know that within less than a decade, he would rise to fame as the frontman of the Screaming Trees, and then fall from grace as a low-level crack dealer and a homeless heroin addict, all the while watching some of his closest friends rocket to the forefront of popular music.

Probably the best in the genre
Revisado: 03-12-23
I am a huge fan of music autobiographies and I think this is the best one I’ve ever read. Mark was an incredibly talented writer and is bitingly hilarious while also telling a brutally sad story. There’s beauty in the pain and he is able to tell it all so eloquently. R.I.P. Mark - I’m so glad you decided to tell your story when you did.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

One of King’s Best
Revisado: 10-14-22
In a world that is full of doubt and uncertainty, it is a joy to listen to King’s Fairy Tale. Filled with dynamic characters and an epic adventure, I listened to this book over the course of two weeks and became very attached to Charlie and Radar. The narrator is fantastic and really brought the book to life.
