The Heart of Hospitality is an industry hospitality “bible” recommended by Wharton, Cornell, et al. So I was expecting something dry. It’s decidedly not dry. To the contrary, it’s a particularly fun listen where you hear from everyone from Isadore Sharp (Four Seasons) to Tom Colicchio (Top Chef, etc.) and, most of all, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company’s co-founder Herve Humler. Best of all, though, the author, Micah Solomon, is a known expert and a thoroughly engaging guy. I love that it lets you “visit” some ultra-Five Star hotel properties; this makes it a lot of fun, and I learned enough to re-energize my own customer service and hospitality approach. Highly recommended.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to audiobooks. so many of them fail to hold my attention. This one grabbed me from the start. The narrator (actor) was fantastic at performing many different characters. The narrator (character) was riveting and relatable, though ultimately I was mildly annoyed at how often she kept referring to Madison as beautiful. But i enjoyed the interplay between the characters, the complex friendships, and I'm a sucker for found-family stories. Overall, I thought this was one of the better audiobooks I've ever heard, even though the story is fairly slight. but i loved the vibe of this book more than the actual story.

The story started out interesting but got a little boring after a while. And sillier. And by the end I was waiting for it to finish. I would’ve bailed on it entirely except I really loved James Marsters’ narration.

I found myself doing extra chores around the house so I could have an excuse to keep listening to this book. I love all of Micah Solomon's books but this one is my favorite, and narrator Jakob Lewis shines, perfectly capturing the author's voice. Great tips, hilarious anecdotes, and insightful interviews abound. A word of caution, though. Such is the reality-distorting effect of reading Micah’s wonderful book that it will absolutely change the way you interact with almost everyone. You'll find yourself silently critiquing every customer service interaction you have. "Oh dear me," you'll find yourself thinking at the grocery store. "Micah would not approve." Highly recommended! Another triumph from Micah Solomon!

Highly entertaining. I'm in awe of the sheer amount of research that must have gone into creating this book. Each chapter is absolutely jam-packed with info and humor, and the narrator does a fantastic job delivering a deadpan reading of the book—allowing the text to shine, but adding just the right amount of humor to complement the script. In someone else's hands, this book wouldn't have worked as well. So, props to the authors and narrator. My only complaint—if you can call it that— is that this book is so loaded with information that it gets a tad overwhelming. Listen to it in several 20-minute session and you'll love it. It's great for walking the dog.
