I’m in my sixties, and I was in school and entering the workforce just as the environment for women began to change. I could relate so well to the frustration and anger of the main character. Young women should read this book to see how much they stand to lose as rights are taken away and we backslide into the attitudes of the past. Religious fanatics should pass on this one, you won’t be able to relate.

Dolphins are so rude!

Who knew? I had planned to save this book for a road trip later this week, but decided to listen to the first chapter. Big mistake. I couldn’t stop listening and I loved every minute of it. The characters are clever, funny, and in some cases, quite rude. Loved this book.

This audiobook fell flat with me. It read a bit like a television episode, where just enough drama happens to justify the story. This seems to be such a trend in science fiction and I hope it doesn’t become the norm for CH.

Best purchase ever

I originally purchased this book on CD when it was released. My daughter (now 27) and I listened when we travelled in the car. I have since purchased all the audiobooks through Audible and consider them the best value since they are regularly used. Jim Dale is an amazing narrator and he brings the books to life.

Clever name for the AI 🙄

The name of the AI gave my home system a nervous breakdown. I had to use headphones even though I’m the only one in the house. Other than that, I enjoyed the story and the narration was superb as expected.

This book has an extremely awkward ending. I have no doubt that the next book in the series will pick up the story line, but the author really should have ended this one better.

I found this book after listening to a Pod Save the World podcast where the author was interviewed by Tommy Vietor. The story is interesting, frightening, and detailed without being sensationalized.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Interesting and inventive, as all M. Crichton books are. I'm just so tired of Scott Brick as a narrator, it ruined the book for me.

I enjoyed the story very much. The narrator mispronounced a number of words, or she pronounced the words quite differently than I expected. This was a bit of a distraction, as I tended to get stuck thinking about the how the word was pronounced rather than what was happening in the story.
