Great story!
Revisado: 01-20-24
I really related to this one! I love Clare Lyndon books, but I think this is my favorite. Having played in college in the US I think the story was pretty close to real life of a female soccer player. It’s not quite the same as a professional league, but it’s soooo relatable! Great read!

We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Overall it was ok, much of which I have heard before, The reader was not good. I kept wanting to turn it off. A little too basic if you have heard the topic before. The interactions were good.

People can redeem themselves
Revisado: 09-30-23
I enjoyed learning about Cassidy, and appreciated her honesty. She doesn’t make herself the victim, and actually tells the things she did for Mark and Trump. I am glad she was able to turn around and see the damage that her loyalty to powerful men did to her. I cringed a few times when she told a story about her dad, whom sounds a little nut. Also whenever she referenced “you are part of the the family, you are loyal”, showing clearly the mafia mentality of the Trump White House. It was quite disgusting. I think she did nothing more than her duty and in the end chose her country. But, I wonder if Trump had offered a job and took her to FL, would she have chosen her country?

Historia
On August 3, 1845, young Emily Dickinson declared, "All things are ready" - and with this resolute statement, her life as a poet began. Despite spending her days almost entirely "at home" (the occupation listed on her death certificate), Dickinson's interior world was extraordinary. She loved passionately, was ambivalent toward publication, embraced seclusion, and created 1,789 poems that she tucked into a dresser drawer. In These Fevered Days, Martha Ackmann unravels the mysteries of Dickinson's life through 10 decisive episodes that distill her evolution as a poet.

Good overview
Revisado: 01-03-22
It was a nice overview of Emily’s life, but I felt that the book left me wanting for more. We know Dickinson was mysterious, and the writer acknowledges that. While we will never really know Emily’s true motivation for seclusion, the book didn’t really explore Emily’s relationship to Sue Gilbert as important to her writing. It acknowledges Sue, but I feel many scholars are afraid to explore Emily’s sexuality. There’s enough evidence in her lifetime of her love expressed to Sue, and in many occasions of her using male pronouns to refer to herself. As much as writers want to avoid this part of Dickinson’s life, I would have liked to see the writer at least acknowledge this important part of Emily’s life.

Historia
More than 30 years ago, nutrition researcher T. Colin Campbell and his team at Cornell University, in partnership with teams in China and England, embarked upon the most comprehensive study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease. What they found, when combined with findings in Campbell's laboratory, opened their eyes to the dangers of a diet high in animal protein and the unparalleled health benefits of a whole foods, plant-based diet.

I love this book!
Revisado: 10-06-20
I had a lot of gastrointestinal problems, and it started to show up about 3 years ago. I tried every diet, got tested for allergies and food intolerances, and my Dr. basically said I shouldn’t eat these foods because I had an intolerance to them. He prescribed lansoprazole, and told me to take it daily. The list includes milk (with the exceptions of some cheeses), egg whites, peanuts, and foods high in fat, especially fried foods. I am a chef, and own a restaurant that basically serves all of this stuff. But, I did stop eating these foods, and some of my symptoms went away. However, I noticed red meat, and especially chicken really upset my stomach still. I am a fit person, and I am very active. I played soccer in college, and I’ve practice CrossFit for 5 years. Protein is huge in this environment, and of course I counted my macros. So, even though I had changed my diet, I continued to struggle, with headaches and awful fatigue, so last year I decided to start a vegetarian diet. I noticed some improvements, and I liked it. Than I watched “forks over knives” and “the game changer”, and decided to go on a WFPB diet, and my life changed drastically! I just got a chance to read this book, and everything makes perfect sense to me now. I feel fantastic! I have more energy, I sleep better, I get to eat amazing delicious foods, and I don’t get the awful side affects I used to get. I have even introduced a plant based menu at my restaurant! I truly believe this lifestyle, and I am grateful to have found this information. My mother passed away at 49 from Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I will forever wonder if we had this information earlier, perhaps it could have made a difference for her.

Historia
Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

Predictable, but worth it!
Revisado: 09-11-20
I was not surprised by all the greedy, disgusting dealings between Cohen and Trump. I was surprised about how Cohen talked about himself. I don’t feel sorry for Cohen at all, the things he enabled Trump to do were disgusting, and he always had a choice. But, the evil and delusional world of Trump seems to be worst than we think. I didn’t wanna buy any of these book, especially by people who worked for Trump, but I invested on this one because he was the first to speak out, not by choice, but by circumstance. In addition he was in Trump’s world for a decade so I thought it was worth a shot. Also, the reader is perfect! He actually sounds like Cohen, so it was perfect.
