Historia
Arranging a season for an unruly young lady whose habit is to enter drawing rooms by sliding down banisters presents a challenge at best - especially since the hoydenish Mira has a sister of incomparable grace and beauty. Mira isn’t at all daunted by the local society and its ridiculous marriage mart. Her heart belongs to Lord Charles, who has been the object of her dreams ever since she was a child. But alas, Charles has eyes only for her ever-perfect sister, Drusilla.

Sparkling dissertation on love.
Revisado: 02-10-21
Two very different formulas for compatibility in love. Comfort as much as driving force for one as passion leading to frequent conflict for the other. My favorite moments are when minor characters rise to great deeds beyond their ordinary scope. It’s a wonderful rich book considering its formula as a ‘regency romance’. I savor the detail when listening to a great performance by the narrator. Thank you!

Historia
When Amy and Effy Tribble, two charming but impoverished spinster sisters, lose out on a much needed inheritance, they place an advertisement in The Morning Post and hire themselves out as professional chaperones. Vowing to prepare even the most difficult misses for marriage, the Tribble sisters will spend a London season on each client in this delightful Regency series, The School for Manners. Felicity Baronsheath, their first assignment, turns out to be more of a challenge than they ever imagined.

LOL Romantic Comedy
Revisado: 01-21-20
How lovely to listen to something I’ve read before, brilliantly performed by Anne Flosnik, bringing Amy Tribble, indeed both Tribble sisters, to comic heights that had me laughing uproariously. Yes I love the central romance, but the greater story which will take us through six volumes of School for Manners is the trials and ultimate jubilation of the two aged Tribble spinsters, challenged in age, looks and modern manners - and for me where Ms Flosnik’s narration sparkled.

Historia
Until the day she saw Lord Philip's photo, she had only fantasized about a mysterious lover whose shadowy features were never quite clear. Now she had a real live nobleman to dream about. Little did she suspect that she would soon meet Lord Philip in the flesh. How could she imagine such a thing? After all, what could justify a daughter of the middle class rubbing shoulders with the nobility?

Experiencing the class divide
Revisado: 01-06-20
I enjoy most of Chesney’s historical romance and have read this one before. This narration brings the minor characters to life such as the heroic cockney Charlie and the ghastly anarchists. I enjoyed the pace of the reading because the language is so true to the times, the characters and their setting. Plus it helps me absorb Chesney’s historical detail. I was left feeling keenly Marjorie’s heroic actions set against her many humiliations because of class divide. A great listen.
