Had a very hard time listening to this narrator
Revisado: 07-27-22
First of all I listened to the audible version of this book, and I did not like the narrator at all. She often put the emphasis on the wrong word/part of a sentence. This was terribly annoying and made it hard to focus on what was being said.
However, I did enjoy most of the book itself. I especially liked all of the positive self-imaging that was the focus in the beginning of the book. There were also a lot of practical helps/ideas.
One thing I did not like was too much focusing on weight loss/dieting/fitness, especially after all the positive self-imaging. It almost felt to me like body-shaming (You need to lose weight/diet/etc in order to improve yourself and feel good about yourself. This whole section and the way it was presented was a big turn-off to me.
All in all, I believe this book has a lot to offer, especially to those who may have low self-esteem, or are suffering from past abuse or other experiences that have affected their self-image. I would definitely recommend it (the written version) to others.

Many people struggle throughout their lives, unable to identify the source of great inner existential discontent. No matter their material comfort or good fortune, they cannot escape the idea that they do not live the lives they ought to. They are not in environments that support their deepest personal growth and development. They are not the people they feel they are meant to be, and the world never works the way they know it could.

Extraordinary, very well done. I loved it!
Revisado: 07-27-22
I don’t believe I can possibly say enough good things about this book. I consider it one of the best books I’ve ever read. I listened to the audible version and later bought the Kindle version, just so I could read it again and be able to highlight sections. There are wonderful insights and bits of knowledge on nearly every page. My only regret is that it was not around for me to have read 40 years ago. It should be required reading for every young person in preparation for their journey through life.
There is so much affirmation in this powerful little book. And so much practical application. It’s just a beautiful book. I wish every child could have someone like Mr. Diehl in their life while they are growing up. What a wonderful difference it would make.
I know I’m not being very detailed in my review of the book, but there is so much good in it that I feel I can’t even begin to touch on the impact it carries. Although I have, over the years, put into practice many of the insights presented in this book, I would have done so much sooner in life had this book been available when I was young.
I don’t know much about Mr. Diehl’s upbringing and/or educational background, but he is very wise for one so young. I highly recommend this book to everyone young and old.

This was a very interesting audio book about the history and background information regarding Johnny Cash’s hit live recording, At Folsom Prison. Much of the story is told through interviews with the few remaining people who witnessed the concert or knew Johnny personally. I really enjoyed this one.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

Wonderful story with excellent narration
Revisado: 01-18-22
This is a great audio book. Wonderful narration by multiple voice actors. It is the story of the Christmas Eve cease-fire that took place between English and German soldiers on the battlefield, told through a letter written by one of the witnesses to the mother of a fallen comrade. Very well done. It is a short but powerful telling of the story. Highly recommended.

A Christmas cliché with an outrageous amount of mistletoes, hilarious siblings, a horde of alpacas, sweet and sexy romance, and above all, a crazy small town with characters you'll love. Anathema Fedora McFadden had all the reasons not to visit her family on her mom’s alpaca farm, but when unfortunate events force her to spend Christmas time in a small town in the Rockies, only her best friends – and the one guy whose voice had gifted her more sleepless nights than she could count – could bring the Christmas magic into her life…

The characters seemed quite immature
Revisado: 01-18-22
I regret to say that I did not enjoy this story much. I may have liked it a little better had I been reading it instead of listening. The main characters seemed quite immature for being in their mid to late twenties. Most of the conversations and the way the acted made me think they were in their late teens/early twenties., which would have been fine had they actually been in their late teens/early twenties. The narrator sounded pretty young as well and although she did a good job narrating, I think her voice added to the confusion.
The story itself was okay. I loved the family dynamics between all the brothers and sisters. For me, those familial interactions were the most interesting parts of the story.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Interesting concept and good narration
Revisado: 09-30-21
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this futuristic short story as that is usually not my preference for reading material. This Audible original presents an interesting concept where people who are murdered automatically come back to life and are given a second chance. I liked the characters well enough. The narration by Zachary Quinto was good. I liked this one enough that I will probably listen to the sequel.

This is a prequel to the Matchmaking For Wallflowers series. I have not read others in the series, but I very much enjoyed this one. It is a sweet story with a delightful leading lady. I definitely would like to read the other books in this series after reading this one. I listened to the audio version and narrator, Rosalyn Landor, did a good job on the narration.

Historia
In a tiny village in the hills of Tuscany is a statue of Cupid with the power to grant the deepest desires of the heart to all who ask. The village is home to single mother Valentina, who runs a struggling chocolate shop. All she's ever wanted was to fit in, determined to provide a quiet, normal life for herself and her daughter. She works hard to keep it together, asking for nothing...especially not Cupid's help. Not when that would mean admitting to herself and everyone else that her deepest desire is to find the love of a woman.

This story was pretty good, but overly long
Revisado: 07-09-20
This story starts out as a young girl’s coming of age story, involving a magic “Cupid” fountain that is supposed to for-tell who you will fall in love with. Years later, after her marriage ends, she has a different sort of coming of age when she meets an intriguing woman.
I wasn’t especially taken with any of the characters in this story, particularly the main character.
As the story drug on, I became less and less interested in the characters and what they were doing. Though the writing was okay, it seemed like a needlessly drawn out story focused on the main character’s coming to terms with her homosexuality.
What I liked most about the story was the setting (she works at the family’s chocolate shop) in Italy and the grandmother, who I thought was the most interesting character.

Entertaining stories for both young and old
Revisado: 07-09-20
Though this collection of short stories was not what I was expecting, it was nevertheless an interesting read. The stories in this collection are basically ghost/scary stories. They are the kind of stories told around campfires, not super scary, but they may send a chill down your spine. I found many of them to be quite well-written and entertaining with an edge of the seat anticipation. My only complaint is I felt, as a whole, it ran a bit long. I had to take a number of breaks from it in the course of reading it.
I listened to the audio version, with numerous narrators, which really brought the stories to life.
