If you are lucky, a few times in your life, you will come across a book that touches your soul and makes you a better person, this, for me, was one such book.
It reminds us that there is more to life beyond greed and cynicism. Through describing the wonders of life and the passions of a few unique individuals, this book reminds us that we can choose a life more beautiful.
It is a masterpiece and I hope it receives the recognition it deserves.

If you are a founder, odds are that you have no idea what it means to accept venture capital. If you are in the lucky position of being able to raise money, you must listen to this audiobook before doing so.
If you are an aspiring founder, this book is useful because it provides great information on how to set up a company and a strategy that will be valuable to VCs.
Overall, a great book!

I was superficially familiar with many of the concepts in this book and I found it very useful to learn more about them. The power in using the right words never ceases to amaze me and this is the reason for which I recommend you buy this book.

This is one of the few books that has deeply changed my way of thinking and working.
I own 278 titles on Audible and this one squarely falls within the top 3 most important. It is a masterclass in better management, of yourself and of others.

To the Author John: thank you for such a beautiful book. I will cherish it and share it with anyone willing to listen.

Truly dangerous people are excellent liars because they have many years of experience and won’t allow anyone to trip them up with silly games. They also tend to have expensive lawyers who do the talking for them.
At best these techniques will get weak people to confess, though some suggestions are blatant entrapment (such as offering a fake promotion in case the accused employee is ‘honest’ and admits to the fact).
If a boss treated me to such outrageous questioning, I would tell him to take his accusations and shove them up his rear ended.
If a partner did so, I would be out of there.
When people of limited mental ability complain: ‘they made me confess’ , now I know how it’s done… it’s an ugly thing indeed.

I recognise that these tactics will make it much easier to catch social liars, but most of the techniques involve deception from your side!
It would be interesting to see two practitioners of this book having a conversation…
In fact some of these methods were so unethical that I stopped listening altogether. Will they work? Yes if your counterpart talks willingly. But if you were to stoop so low that you interrogate them as if they are criminals, it says a lot about the kind of relationship you have: as a boss, as a friend or as a partner.
My recommendation: skip this book and find one on building better relationships.

This audio book is full of equations, yet there is no PDF accompanying it, so you need to imagine the equations in your mind while listening to the narration. This is like attending a physics lecture with your eyes closed, instead of benefiting from the illustrations provided by the professor.

Here is the thing: if you are knowledgeable enough to visualize and understand all these equations without seeing them written down, do you really need a book addressed to beginners? As a none mathematician and none physicist, i.e. a beginner in the real sense of the word, I need time to absorb and process the meaning of these equations. If they were written down in a PDF, I could look them up, try them out and figure out if I really get it. As I hear them in the audiobook, I am not even sure how to write them down properly! As a result, I only get a totally superficial understanding of the subject matter. As it happens, I gave up along the way, as my knowledge gap was increasing with every new piece of information.

The thing that bothers me is that it would take very little effort to create the PDF, especially since these equations must have been written down when publishing the book! Hopefully my feedback will be a wakeup call on this.

I will be checking for the addition of a PDF going forward. If it has been added and I have not updated my review yet, feel free to disregard my comments.

With all the talk of machine learning and AI you would think that we are on the cusp of a new utopia. This book sounds the alarm and shines a light on an industry which is famous for its secrecy.

I purchased this audiobook for the mental exercise. My intention was to prove why my world view was right and the title was wrong.
well, I was completely wrong and this is one of the most beautiful things that I have learnt in my adult life. I am immensly grateful for this book and its enlightened content.
