I love Joe Arden’s narrations, but the minute I got to Maxine Mitchell’s part I knew I could no longer listen. She has a VERY weird style of reading that I can’t handle listening to. I’m not sure if it’s just a timing issue or what seems to be odd inflections/ annunciation/ intonation of words, but it is like nails on a chalkboard for me. Sadly, I had to skip the audio and read the book myself instead.

My biggest complaint about the book itself is simply in the wanting more time with the characters once the end comes. Geri Glenn does a fabulous job of immersing the reader in the world and getting them invested in the characters.

Definitely worth the read, and maybe worth the listen if you don’t mind the quirky female narration that drove me nuts!

I thoroughly enjoy Kristen’s books, but this one was fantastic. It just has so much heart from start to finish that I’d find myself laughing and crying with the characters along their journey.

It also happened to be a perfect listen. Kudos to the team for getting the absolute best narrators for the job on this one, because some of Kristen’s other audiobooks have been touch and go (heavy Jersey accents for Colorado). So, if you put off on getting this book (as I did) due to bad narration in the past, take my word for it that isn’t an issue here!

This whole package was perfection!

I loved the story and characters. It was a book that took me away and let me live a crazy life vicariously through it’s pages. I definitely recommend it, with one caveat...

Let’s talk about why a biker book taking place in Colorado sounded like a bad episode of The Jersey Shore. Who behind the scenes reviewed this audiobook and thought that was ok? Better yet, who is the narrator related to? I have to tell you, I nearly got my money back, because of the narrator, but I stuck it out. The narration gets a little less Jersey as you go, or maybe I got used to tuning out the annoyance. Either way, if strong accents that don’t match the setting bother you, take the time to read this one for yourself straight from the pages of your e-reader or hard copy, because the book is ABSOLUTELY worth it! The narration, not so much.

I have enjoyed the rest of the series, but this one was so chock full of preachy cliches it could double as one of those self-help idea a day calendars. It even ends on a preachy, self-help/self-love tangent.

I just did not enjoy it, and was definitely expecting a better/meatier story for these two characters. instead it was a watered down drama with a boat load of life coaching. Meh.

I read this one via the romance package, and definitely glad I didn't spend a credit on it.

The rest of the books in the series have been well worth it though. This one just missed the mark for me.

I enjoyed Katie Ashley's MC series so I tried this one out. It was only okay for me, because while I liked the overall story, I also wished for something different the entire time. There were just too many cringy moments for me to be able to want a HEA for the main characters together.

Abby was the epitome of a doormat. Throughout the whole book Jake was a serious douchebag with only a few redeemable moments inbetween being a douche again, and within minutes of his jerkwad behavior she would forgive him. I'm talking about asking her to get to know him better with the hope of more to end up getting oral from a waitress moments later. it was seriously cringeworthy... and continued to happen throughout. I honestly hoped she would grow a spine and end up with his band mate, or running for any other dude. That hope is the only thing that took me to the end of the book. Sad, but true.

The narration was iffy. In the beginning the country accent for Abby annoyed me, but by the end the female narrator stopped using it (thankfully). The male continued to pull the accent, also annoying. And I'm a southern girl with a twang saying this.

My opinion is just that, and here as a reminder for myself. Someone else may see past the things I disliked, so give it a try, and see for yourself. 😁

I wasn't thrilled with the male narrator for this one. His secondary character voices made them all sound like grumpy old men with throat cancer.

The book itself was fabulous though. I've enjoyed the whole series so far, and this one did not disappoint.

obvious trigger warning for those who can't stomach stories involving human trafficking and sexual abuse, but beautifully handled, and worth attempting.

seeing Rev and Annabelle heal together was such a lovely thing.

Superb narration too!

There was a fantastic story buried underneath mounds of depression and FAR too much sex.
Literally, the main characters would be interacting with children and/or siblings and that interaction would get cut into by H or h thinking about sex. Neither character could get through a single scene in the entire book without describing in their mind what they'd rather be doing, or how their body was reacting (wet, throbbing, hard). I'm all for steamy scenes in books, but this was to the point of sheer annoyance.

Normally, I would skim, but that would have cut the book probably in half or more. As I listened to the audiobook whole driving a lot, it also became impossible to do so. If you don't mind sex, completely inappropriate mentioning of sex (while conversing with children), and more thoughts of sex, sex acts, and adults unable to control their bodies long enough to have a functional conversation, then this one is for you. Again, there is a cool mystery riding underneath all the sex and depression, it was just a shame that it was overshadowed by it.

The narration was well done by both the male and female.

I will review the ebook separately since I had to buy it, because the narrator for the audio was so awful. To say her voice, pronunciations, and intonation were annoying is putting it mildly.

Listen to the sample first before purchase.
