Historia
Everyone in the quiet Jersey Shore town of Silver Bay knows the story: on a Sunday evening in September 1991, Ramsey Miller threw a blowout block party, then murdered his beautiful wife and three-year-old daughter. But everyone is wrong. The daughter got away. Now she is nearly eighteen and tired of living in secrecy. Under the name Melanie Denison, she has spent the last fifteen years in small-town West Virginia as part of the Witness Protection Program. She has never been allowed to travel, go to a school dance, or even have internet at home. Precautions must be taken at every turn, because Ramsey Miller was never caught and might still be looking for his daughter.

Weird Ending
Revisado: 04-28-25
I was surprised at the ending and it was a pretty good twist. This was a lot of back and forth between time. My mind did wander a bit so the keeping up with the characters was a bit confusing as it went back and forth so much.

Historia
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

Pretty good

The author really knows how to double up and make a mystery of families. I love this one, and the ending still was a huge surprise.

Another hit with this Series
Revisado: 04-20-25
Every book in this series is so good. Susan Stoker finds so many different ways to keep your interest in every book. Usually its so repetitive with stories like this, but she does a great job along with Stella Bloom. WOW, Great Narrator.

Timeline bounced around way too much
Revisado: 04-20-25
This book was very hard to follow. The timeline was back-and-forth sideways and who knows where. The narrator was so good but did not distinguish the characters differently at all. Just could not follow it.

Historia
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

Great book with a lot if mystery.
Revisado: 04-08-25
Good story, kept me listening. The end was a confusing as to who was who as so many details of the past came about. Just way too many characters that I was familiar with enough to have it come to a gripping ending that it should be.

So hard to keep all these Characters straight
Revisado: 03-23-25
Loved the Narration. Excellant job.
Why do some of these authors think its so cool to throw 10 characters in the main part of this story and mix them up with back and forth time periods, every other chapter and then try to mix them up again to sum up the story. It’s all just confusing and not entertaining to have to figure out so many angles and people who might be who and then no way and not even close to understanding the ending.
So happy I didn’t pay for this book.

This Book was pretty good
Revisado: 03-19-25
I was looking for more when I listened to this book.
Narrator, Amy Rubinate was fantastic. She had every voice and her accent was perfect.
For me, it was a little slow many times.
I saw the point of this story and it was a very good one. Very realistic and so true to heart with this Southern family.
Just didn’t grab my entire attention many times throughout the book.
