Gottman has scientifically analyzed the habits of married couples and established a method of correcting the behavior that puts thousands of marriages on the rocks. I love the material but it’s hard to follow along with or apply to my marriage without a workbook :/

Historia
With Expecting Better, award-winning economist Emily Oster spotted a need in the pregnancy market for advice that gave women the information they needed to make the best decision for their own pregnancies. By digging into the data, Oster found that much of the conventional pregnancy wisdom was wrong. In Cribsheet, she now tackles an even great challenge: decision-making in the early years of parenting.

Great if you have a head injury!
Revisado: 10-25-19
The narrator talks slowly and uses a placating tone. The author is redundant and explains basic concepts in a way that is more suited for people with an elementary school education or that have some sort of brain damage. I even tried speeding the narration up in hopes of getting through the material but it’s still boring wading through the emotional side of every argument when I just want the data.

Historia
Most of us have no idea what's really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know - such as the brain's need for physical activity to work at its best. How do we learn? What exactly do sleep and stress do to our brains? Why is multi-tasking a myth? Why is it so easy to forget - and so important to repeat new information? Is it true that men and women have different brains?

I love all of the ‘Brain Rules’ books. The author has such an amazing passion for the brain and he relates it with humor and compassion while backing it with science and studies. I’m hooked!

Historia
There are nearly 1,400 known varieties of wine grapes in the world - from altesse to zierfandler - but 80 percent of the wine we drink is made from only 20 grapes. In Godforsaken Grapes, Jason Wilson looks at how that came to be and embarks on a journey to discover what we miss. While hunting down obscure and underappreciated wines, he looks at why these wines fell out of favor (or never gained it in the first place), what it means to be obscure, and how geopolitics, economics, and fashion have changed what we drink.

I loved listing to this book! I’m a Certified Somm and have advanced certification with the WSET. I’m a bit of a nerd so I loved that I learned so many fun facts and got to hear the names of grapes that I’ve barely even read about. I could really appreciate the authors journey of discovery and totally enjoyed the humor that he brought to what could have been a very dry subject. I laughed so hard that I was glad no one in traffic seemed to be paying attention to me! Highly recommend this book!
