A raw, emotional and ominous Viking romance!

In this edition in the Bound and Betrothed saga, Viggo is a very different character. A head injury when his Viking ship wrecked leaves him blind; feeling worthless and suicidal. Viggo struggles but Signy is such a sweet and patient partner for him. The story is very steamy, in a raw and crude Viking manner and I love the role reversals where the women are in charge and are using the men sexually to get babies. The books in this series all have an undercurrent that slowly reveals new insights into the mysterious and maybe supernatural events on the island and it is tantalizing to pick up the omens and ominous clues along the way. I loved the slow transition Viggo makes to accept his disability and take some role in Signy's life and future. Signy's mother Ulva is a great mean mother and there are lots of other personalities on the island that are well developed. Gareth does a great job narrating the tale; his gravelly voice makes you feel the tension and the Viking spirit.
The ending was satisfying and I cannot wait for the next story to add more pieces to the puzzle and more steamy relationships to the plot.

The Bree Taggert series is one where I anxiously await the next book in the series. The mysteries are complex and intelligent and the sheriff and her team and family are well fleshed-out and relatable. Bree's traumatic childhood and loss of her sister to murder make her both empathetic to victims and also threaten to haunt her during an investigation. On this novel she definitely is affected by her past when dealing with a teenaged victim of violence. Her partner Matt's devotion to all animals also shines and I love the canines in the books, both pets and officers. A side distraction of endangered animal illegal trade ends up nicely tied in. The Audible narration is very good too.

I have to say that the plot was clever and the book was full of suspense and tension. It was also pretty graphic and brutal for folks who are squeamish. DCI Kett's definitely colors outside the lines but it is justified when he is trying to save his wife from a serial killer. In this book, as in the others, he gets pretty beat up in the process and alienates a lot of other officers who play by the book. I certainly did not figure out the plot, which was quite devious and twisted. The narration on the Audible version was great. Good rip-roaring police drama for sure.

This is another good solid entry in the murder-in-the-whiskey-world series of books. It was good to get up to date on Abi and Grant's relationship, although it takes a back seat in this book. As always, Abi gets dragged into murders that happen all around her and she is eyed with suspicion by the local constable on an isolated island. A distillery is involved but the plot of a ruined monastery haunted by a robed monk takes center stage. There are loads of characters and motives so it is a complex plot and I did not figure it out myself. Definitely worth the read but also more of the same. The narrative in Audible is well done.

I do love the sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek story of Agatha's messy life. The plot is a good one with lots of suspects and wrong turns. I like Agatha's eclectic group of detectives who usually get themselves in danger and finally solve the mystery. Agatha smokes and hates the new smoking bans, she has a terrible diet, she has freeloading friends who help her out and she falls in love at the drop of a hat. You have to love her. I "read" this on Audible and enjoyed the narration.

The Agatha Raisin books are fun and snarky to read. This one is full of colorful characters and lots of motives for murder. Agatha surrounds herself with dysfunctional people but they come together in the end to make a satisfying ending and a Christmas celebration. The Audible narration was very good.

I love to return to Paradise Valley in Montana, especially for a heartwarming Christmas story. This time it is Cormac Sheenan's story. He was the absent brother before but now he is reluctantly returning to the valley to give the little girl Daisy he has guardianship for a better place to grow up. The valley has all the Christmas cheer and festivities and there is also a magical Santa figure in this one. Daisy is sweet and fun and it makes the story even more magical to see the holidays through her eyes. Whitney is a strong and successful woman and I liked her character a lot as she tries to navigate the dangerous waters around her old romance and heartbreak with Cormac. It is a sweet romance and great fun. I listened on Audible and the narrator was pretty good but maybe a little too young and perky sounding.

This series is set in a dangerous and tumultuous time in Scotland and there is plenty of suspense, danger and intrigue here. I really enjoyed Garrick, who is an archer and ace assassin for Robert the Bruce in his fight for Scottish independence. He is an interesting character since he does not see himself as a hero, but as someone that no woman could love. In contrast, Jossalyn is an expert healer who values every life. There are sparks and secrets, fear and mistrust but also great romance and passion between the two. There are some steamy scenes. The backdrop of the war going on makes this fast-paced and very interesting. I listened on Audible and Tim Campbell, as always, nails the accents and voices. Jossalyn's brother is a truly evil feature in this story as he was in the first book. Read them all!.

listened to this horror story on Audible and enjoyed the creative plot but I wasn't really that scared. The narrator would be perfect for a rom-com story but the story needed a creepier voice to make the story more frightening. I did enjoy that the heroine, Adrian, tried to think the situation through and be open-minded to even supernatural explanations for the spooky events. She did some smart things. I also like the surprises and the mystery imbedded in the story.

Wow, what an exciting, steamy and intriguing first book in a series that promises to be great. The plot that includes an island of just women who adopt 6 Vikings shipwrecked on their island is fun and unique. The women are in control! The narration is perfect with Gareth's deep and mysterious voice quality. I love that the women need the men to perpetuate their community, and some of them are lusting for the men too, but on their terms. Their previous experiences with the men who left the island were not always positive. The book has the extra element of intrigue with a seer and a little paranormal foretelling of the future which should tie the six novels together as different couples are featured but the stories all intertwine. I especially loved the earthy and lusty thoughts and dialog of the Viking men and the language used in the book. It makes the tale feel real and so hot. The first story with the jarl of the Vikings, Eldberg, butting heads with the strong and independent Hedda is perfect. It takes a while for Hedda to see any benefit to having men around again and the sparks fly and well as the passion.
