I loved this book - well-written romantic escapism from anyone’s droll life! The insanity of revolutionary France brings home my fear of the not yet equal insanity of the politics here in our own country.

Baroness Orczy’s books are over 110 years old, but they stand up today better than most classics I’ve read! I love her characters, even her heroines, who, although they aren’t like those in modern fiction (“we’ve come a long way, baby!”), they are still interesting and unique for late 18th century France! And the hero, Percy Blakeney, puts our modern American culture, which bears more similarities to the French Revolutionaries than our own American Revolutionaries, to shame!

Barbara Res worked close to Donald Trump for 18 years and knows the man: the good, the bad and the ugly.
I plan to listen to it a 2nd time since there is so much here. It’s like a puzzle of the man; she gives you the pieces that you fit together into a picture of Trump and thus our last 5 years as a country! Now I get it!
Read and believe, America!

This is one of those fictional novels based strongly on fact: WWII drama/documentary/mystery & romance, since there’s a truth-based love affair between one of the main characters and Prince Philip of Greece! (Yes, THAT Prince Philip!) It will keep you on the edge of your carseat.

If you liked this Austen classic as a girl, you’ll love this audio book! The characters are so enjoyable, several are hilariously funny. You won’t want it to end.
