Historia
When The Flip Wilson Show debuted in 1970, Black faces were still rare on television, Black hosts nonexistent. So how did Clerow “Flip” Wilson go from Jersey City grade-school dropout to national celebrity, heralded on the cover of Time as “TV’s first black superstar”? Flip is a candid, entertaining biography of a consummate comedian who changed the face of American popular culture.

Flip, what a life...
Revisado: 11-03-16
I liked the story. I found it to be a very honest and blunt story of Flip a Wilson's life. However the honesty left me a bit sad because Flip had demons that he didn't deal with; like his relationship with his mother, his relationship with his children, and the fact that he would get high with his children and involve them in his drug activity, and his relationship with women – which was clearly impacted by his relationship with his mom. I'm sorry his estate was not better protected too that his children received such a small amount of money. I know what he stated his wishes were, but I would hate to think that he in tensional he left a son with disabilities in so much need.

Entertainment and informative

I'd only read scant reviews of this book before purchasing it on audible. I walked away with an understanding about bi-polar disease that I didn't have prior. I appreciate how Ms. Billingsley wove the information into a story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, in fact I have recommended it. It was also recommended to me by my sister.

The two main characters are what I liked best. Truly what a woman fantasizes about.
What does Grace Grant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The flightiness yet ferociousness...
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I wanted to but I only listen to one chapter a day after the first 5 because I wanted it to last.
Any additional comments?

Revisado: 12-14-14
What did you love best about When It All Falls Down?
The story, although it started out a bit slow to me. I ended up really liking the main character. He had a moral base and was not a 'super hero' type.
What was one of the most memorable moments of When It All Falls Down?
That the main character decided to take a relationship slow and not appear sleazy or out for self, was applaudable.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I enjoyed.
Revisado: 12-14-14
What made the experience of listening to To Paris with Love the most enjoyable?
The pace of the story is what I enjoyed most.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I did not have a favorite character; they each added to building the story.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I was not familiar with this author.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I actually had to take it in doses... I was taken a bit back by the cussing, it was a bit harsh at times and not always necessary to build upon the story. But I did listen until the end.
Any additional comments?
Not for one with sensitive ears.

Engaging and comedic spin on a serious topic
Revisado: 12-14-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Foster and that Bad. B.A.D.D. Bully to be better than the print version?
Not sure if 'better' would be a good word, but the audio version does allow for inflections that put emphasis on certain words and actions. I find value in them both.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Foster and that Bad. B.A.D.D. Bully?
When the teacher would not heed Foster's warning about the new kid, the bully. It goes to show that quite often adults are too easy to dismiss what children are saying rather than value their observations and words.
What does David Dietz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He give the story a youthful and innocent tone but also he captures the voice of 'youth.' His interpretation of the lead character Foster and his sister Marie is on point.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Absolutely. The listening time is just under an hour which keeps kids engaged while on a short distance car ride.
Any additional comments?
Read! Enjoy, spread the word and look for upcoming books from the Shenanigans Series.
