Historia
Inspired by her research for the hit podcast Ultra, Rachel Maddow charts the rise of a wild American strain of authoritarianism that has been alive on the far-right edge of our politics for the better part of a century. Before and even after our troops had begun fighting abroad in World War II, a clandestine network flooded the country with disinformation aimed at sapping the strength of the U.S. war effort and persuading Americans that our natural alliance was with the Axis, not against it.

How close we came to being a Nazi sympathizing country.
Revisado: 03-21-24
this book really opened my eyes. I wasn't much for history when I was growing up in this book really enthralled me. I couldn't stop listening. in America we live and such a gullible state most of the time. fear has always been used to control us. it happened back then with the Nazis and it's happening now with All of the same tactics just in a different generation. I had to ask myself whether things would have turned out differently if we would have had the internet back then. I'm almost too scared to think about it.
this is the first book I've read by Rachel maddow. she's so thoroughly researched and put down in words One of the most scary times in our history. up until now. I hope we have people with a backbone like there were then. nothing else will save us but us.

Historia
As one of the strategists behind the famous 2012 RNC “autopsy,” Miller conducts his own forensic study on the pungent carcass of the party he used to love, cutting into all the hubris, ambition, idiocy, desperation, and self-deception for everyone to see. In a bracingly honest reflection on both his own past work for the Republican Party and the contortions of his former peers in the GOP establishment, Miller draws a straight line between the actions of the 2000s GOP to the Republican political class's Trumpian takeover, including the horrors of January 6th.

lost and found
Revisado: 09-29-22
After several years of speaking to my sensible and dependable Republican friends through The trump years I never understood how they got caught up in cultist Trumpism. This book helped me understand the anger that really had nothing to do with trump but everything to do with a changing world in which they thought somehow trump's anger, Rudeness and pettiness would somehow get back at what they considered the "liberal elite". The people that were letting the world become "browner" and " Had no respect For the America they grew up in" They got trapped in their little bubble that that the Internet helped them stay fully in. They didn't have to listen to any other Points of view. they lived watching trump "own the libs" Without realizing that they also are being owned. And the fact that most of them stillBelieve in this man is outrageous..
