Historia
The era of the coronavirus has tested America, and our leaders and institutions have conspicuously failed. That failure shouldn’t be surprising: Beneath social-media frenzy and reality-television politics, our era’s deep truths are elite incompetence, cultural exhaustion, and the flight from reality into fantasy. The Decadent Society explains what happens when a powerful society ceases advancing - how the combination of wealth and technological proficiency with economic stagnation, political stalemate, and demographic decline creates a unique civilizational crisis.

Great book!
Revisado: 04-04-20
I loved this book and narrator. A lot is timely, for example his comments on a lack of "herd immunity" due to the lack of young people. I have shared and recommended this book with many who feel as I do. I agree with his premise that nothing is new and exciting. I have though this about the field of Physics for example. Lots of examples abound.

Historia
Billionaire Wilderness takes you inside the exclusive world of the ultra-wealthy, showing how today's richest people are using the natural environment to solve the existential dilemmas they face. Justin Farrell spent five years in Teton County, Wyoming, the richest county in the United States and a community where income inequality is the worst in the nation. He conducted hundreds of in-depth interviews, gaining unprecedented access to tech CEOs, Wall Street financiers, oil magnates, and other prominent figures in business and politics.

Very good well researched book
Revisado: 03-15-20
I am not finished with the book yet but so far I am very impressed! The author did extensive research and actually "lived with" the individuals he was studying. I am doing this right now for my book on the other side of the spectrum, the poor and less fortunate. One has to really get out there and meet and interview subjects for such a manuscript. Farrell has done this and the accompanying PDF really helps and thoroughly outlines his research and interviews. The book has given me ideas for how to go about this kind of research into a world few realize exists. I hope to learn more about the working poor from his book as I personally see, in Phoenix, such gentrification. The poor are evicted from affordable housing and MHPs to make way for high-end condos and homes. Many end up becoming homeless. Goof narration also...

A riveting exploration of how microbes are transforming the way we see nature and ourselves - and could revolutionize agriculture and medicine. Prepare to set aside what you think you know about yourself and microbes. Good health - for people and for plants - depends on Earth's smallest creatures. The Hidden Half of Nature tells the story of our tangled relationship with microbes and their potential to revolutionize agriculture and medicine, from garden to gut.

Very good book on this subject!
Revisado: 02-14-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. I have recommended it already to many folks. It is a very understandable book on this subject.. I think I will try composting and stick to the Paleo diet I converted to after reading "Grain Brain". Very convincing.
What other book might you compare The Hidden Half of Nature to and why?
Daniel Permutter's books like "Grain Brain" etc., "Missing Microbes" and many, many more....One of my favorite subjects.
What about LJ Ganser’s performance did you like?
He holds your attention especially while running. He is one of my favorite narrators. Loved his narration of Matt Ridley's "The Rational Optimist".
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
his description of the intestinal tract.
Any additional comments?
I love audio books. They have changed my life...
