The performances are excellent. I was physically shaking at one point. Faithful to the original. With all that that implies.

Pairs well with Murderbot, A Brave New World, or various other such works. Audio recording had some mispronunciations which could have used a once-over.

Excellent, hilarious writing. Quite a bit of it is surprisingly applicable to modern life too! Other parts offer a good glimpse into Swift's times.

The reading is done well, with a very wry voice, which is appropriate. Very good. It was a bit hard to hear, due to audio quality, in the shower – but fine in other settings, even with moderately loud fans blowing.

I wish that Audible would divide the file up into the chapters appropriately. There are five essays here. There is an introduction to the essay for the modern reader, and then the essay text itself. But the file is divided into only two chapters, unlabelled, with the division occurring in the middle of an essay. That is my biggest complaint. If each intro. and essay were given its own chapter (preferably with a descriptive label), then the file would be easier to navigate. The good news is that it is only two hours in (approximate) length, so finding one's place is not too hard.

Self-aware/meta. More sad than frightening (this is not a critique, just a statement). Introspective. I hope that you like similes and metaphors; I found some truly wonderful ones in here; every sentence seems to contain at least one (I liked them, but others may not). I learned a fair but about Japanese culture. Diversity in the cast. There were some genuinely funny moments as well.

Probably not worth a full Audible credit though.

A very thorough look at nearly every conceivable aspect of the attacks, their lead-up, the response to them, and recommendations put forward at the time. Anyone who is interested in history, government operation, international relations, preparing for attacks or WMDs, the nature of terrorism, or bureaucratic management should listen to the whole thing.

Enjoyable story. I have heard that some people do not like it as much as The Martian, but I may have liked it more. The characters were fun and memorable. There were a few mysteries (as in the genre), obviously a lot of sci-fi, and the propulsive problem-solving cycles that Weir is known for. Some economics too! Almost every single plot thread that I noticed along the way was tied up at the end; I found that to be satisfying, but others may not. I do want to know what was missing in the reconstituted alcoholic beverages, hahaha! Despite that general trend, there is a little bit of a room for a sequel or at least a summary of what happens next. I am not saying that we will ever get one, just that the plot does not dead-end despite its being wrapped up into a nice package. Some telling, not showing, took place. Some of those seeds could have been planted earlier, but it was fine. On the other hand, the character of the protagonist and her abilities were consistent but revealed by the story as it progressed in a pleasant way – I liked getting to know her better throughout. Some of her morality is questionable for a while (likewise for several other prominent characters), but one can tell that she is basically good-adjacent, at the worst. Even so, when she deserves punishment, she generally gets it, which is good.

Dawson did a great job of bringing the characters to life. There were a few times when she would get voices mixed up (even with the narration), and there was at least one moment when it really confused me, but those are blips. For the most part (probably well over 99% by word count), there are no issues and she is very engaging. She did a better job with making the characters real than I would have if I read them in my head. She also did seem to stumble over or slow down with technical writing sometimes when the character would not have, but it was again fine. I am just nit-picking. I really loved her performance and probably got more from the story for it.
