Revisado: 01-20-25
This has all the hallmarks of a satisfying historical romance. The characters are so well developed. There is misdirection and believable misunderstandings , humorous supporting characters and evil villains. But most of all the main male character is all I could wish for as the protagonist finally realizes

Historical that doesn’t adhere to the time period

Pleasant enough story but it pretends to be Napoleonic era England while characters act like they live in the 20th Century.

Engrossing
Revisado: 04-17-24
It’s a great story of love and what it is and is not , of what it is to be human and what we do to survive physically as well as emotionally. Addy survives in a world that cannot remember her when it turns away or closes a door. She needs and distrusts the one who claims to love her but who confuses power with love.

Great writing and imagination plus humanity
Revisado: 02-05-24
This whole series as well as the prequel are amazing. Her character development and pacing allow for good and bad to be portrayed without overwhelming. Her writing style is concise while moving the story forward. What she has to say about the human condition and all types of love stays with you long after the end. In terms of magic plus character development , I’d recommend Deborah Harkness if this appealed to you.
