It was great until it wasn't
Revisado: 10-16-24
I just finished chapter 23 of the infamous hobblingscene, but then when it went to part three, it started playing earlier parts of the book. so yeah, I can't listen to the rest of it. I basically just sat through the climax and now it's not going to show me what happens next. I have literally never had this problem with audible before and I can't see anyone else talking about it in the comment section... that are all five stars by the way… I don't know what the heck is going on...

Loving this
Revisado: 06-06-24
Oh my God! I thought we lived inside the globe when I was a little kid too! I wonder how common this is. Yeah, I'm loving this book so far. I'm still just getting into it, but she's not reading voice, and I've seen plenty of interviews with her, so I'm invested.

It's just a fun read
Revisado: 04-23-24
The only thing that stood out to me that I didn't like was all the references to being "human" and a lot of other earth references that they couldn't possibly know , being from a galaxy far far away. Like one of the characters has a mandolin (the musical instrument, not the tool) ...like she might as well have a fender strat, lol.

Writing fast is the most important skill you can develop as a writer. While it seems hard to hit high word counts, the secrets are easier than you think. In this writer's guide, prolific author M. L. Ronn pulls back the curtain on the process that he uses to write six to eight novels a year. He has kept this pace while juggling responsibilities as a husband, father, manager at a Fortune 100 company, and a law school student. The result is a catalog of over 40 books and counting.

I'm sorry, I like this guy a lot, but this book was kind of a waste of money if I'm being perfectly honest. There wasn't really anything in it that stood out to me as interesting or thought-provoking. None of it was new information. It was all the same writing advice. I've heard 1000 times from 1000 different people. There was maybe one point in the whole thing that I thought was probably useful if I had the wherewithal to go through with it, but I think the truth is, if this guy writes anywhere near as fast as he says, he does, he's just very single minded, and very motivated, which are great qualities to have, but it's not really a system or a science, there's nothing to it except to put all distractions aside and do your work. I think the main take away from this book, (possible spoilers) is to use every instance of spare time you might have to write, whether you're on the subway or stuck in traffic, or on a 10 minute break at work, use your phone and utilize Scrivner to the fullest... that being said, I am sure there are some people who will read this, and it will all be new information to them. It just wasn't for me. Sorry!

Are you writing a novel, but having trouble getting your first draft written? You've heard of "outlining," but that sounds too rigid for you. You've heard of "organic writing," but that seems a bit squishy to you. Take a look at the wildly popular Snowflake Method - a battle-tested series of 10 steps that jump-start your creativity and help you quickly map out your story. All around the world, novelists are using the Snowflake Method right now to ignite their imaginations and get their first drafts down on paper. In this book, you'll follow the story of a fictitious novelist as she learns to tap into the amazing power of the Snowflake Method. Almost magically, she finds her story growing from a simple idea into a deep and powerful novel. And she finds her novel changing her - turning her into a stronger, more courageous person.

Surprisingly useful
Revisado: 04-25-23
The people on here who are leaving bad reviews for this are kind of blowing my mind a little bit. I found it pretty useful, and I like the meta-aspect of using a story to talk about storytelling. I understand the impulse to be impatient when trying to learn a new thing and not wanting all the flowery language and what not, but it seems like, if a story revolving around Goldilocks, the three bears and the big bad Wolf is too much for you to stomach, then you probably don't need to get into writing... maybe that's harsh… Lol. Idk. Anyway, yeah I would definitely recommend this book. And if you're in a hurry, Not wanting to go through the drudgery of reading the story part, go look online there's tons of step-by-step articles about The snowflake method, I mean if you want to avoid the story stuff, but in my opinion, it makes the whole concept easier to digest. kind of reminds me of Mr. Miyagi teaching karate by having Daniel paint the fence or wax the car. At the end you come away realizing what it was all for and you're better for it in the long run.

Truly well written, really well performed. There are aspects of it I had a knee-jerk reaction to, well, one aspect. But that would be a spoiler so I'm not going to say anything about that. Overall it's a really poignant, well written story. And I love all the Bowie references.

Ummm...
Revisado: 03-29-22
Yeah the narrator was really not good. They kept pausing for extended periods of time, stumbling over words. If you're doing an audiobook, I don't care if you have dyslexia, you can edit after. That's what editing is for. I myself am a painfully slow reader, but I would never deliver an audiobook that way on a professional platform. Also I feel like the writer of this book is confusing ADHD and autism and all of those things with dyslexia…? It doesn't feel like they did any research at all. I'm sorry if this feels like a cruel review. I'm sure it was quite the accomplishment and getting it out there was a really big deal and took courage and all that stuff, but you should have editors and fact checkers for this type of book. Otherwise you're just putting out false information. Tbh, I should have read the reviews before I bought it.
