Very disappointing
Revisado: 02-15-21
This book started out slow but considering that I have read all of her previous books, I continued to read until the end. The beginning and the middle were full of technical jargon and a personal plot that made no sense. Then when it did begin to make sense at the end of the book, the reader is left hanging (literally) and the book ends. What a disappointment! I won’t read any more of her books.

Historia
When Mitch Rapp captures ISIS’s top technology expert, he reveals that he was on his way to meet a man who claims to have the ability to bring down America’s power grid. Rapp is determined to eliminate this shadowy figure, but the CIA’s trap fails. The Agency is still trying to determine what went wrong when ISIS operatives help this cyber terrorist do what he said he could — plunge the country into darkness. With no concept of how this unprecedented act was accomplished, the task of getting the power back on could take months. Perhaps even years.

A Thriller with Terrible Narration
Revisado: 10-13-20
I have listened to all of the Mitch Rapp series with close attention and excitement -- until now. George Guidall is NOT a good narrator for this series. His voice sounds like an old man with no differing inflections when moving from character to character. This narrator has done a fine job with Daniel Silva's novels, but Vince Flynn has made a bad mistake in using him for Mitch Rapp. This is an old man's voice trying to be a younger man in an adventure plot. I could not keep up with the plot, because the narration was so mismatched. Please don't use him again.

Historia
Larry Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees the scene, leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.

Another enjoyable trip to Trenton
Revisado: 01-14-17
It is always enjoyable to ride along through "the Burg" with Stephanie, Lula and the gang. This new adventure mimics some of her former stories, but it keeps you interested while enjoying the antics of the characters.

Great story, wonderful characters. An integration of story telling and modern day racism that needed to be told.

Historia
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Boring!!
Revisado: 09-10-16
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would not recommend this book because it takes so long to get to the story I was bored out of my mind with numbing prose with no obvious purpose.

Mills is no Vince Flynn
Revisado: 11-04-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who had not followed Vince Flynn's (his writing) closely might enjoy this book.
But those who have will find it disappointing.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham
What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?
It was OK, but somewhat monotone and boring.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment
Any additional comments?
I found the story very long on detail about the setting and not enough detail on what Mitch Rabb was thinking, strategizing and doing. A rather boring take on Vince Flynn's books. More adventure and much less boring description of the setting would help.

No. 1 Ladies Det. Agency keeps you smiling
Revisado: 02-06-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you want a fun read without expectations of fast moving adventure and deep mystery, this book will keep you interested and smiling at the two ladies and their friends and the pictures the book conjures in your mind of the African bush country. I recommend this book for reading when you just want to chill out with a fun story and colorful characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Kalahari Typing School for Men?
The shoes that Mma Cotswai (sp?) was able to buy with her earnings from the Typing School.
What does Lisette Lecat bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
Wonderful accent and speech pattern.

Not Your Usual Detective Story
Revisado: 12-05-11
If you could sum up The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency in three words, what would they be?
historical, enlightening, woman-centered
What did you like best about this story?
The historical information from the perspective of a woman who made her way in the world on her own wits and insights.
Which scene was your favorite?
When she went out in the bush to get the boy and bring him back.
If you could rename The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, what would you call it?
I think the title is wonderfully appropriate -- wouldn't change it
Any additional comments?
the main character was so clearly described and getting to know her was a real delight.

Narrator is VERY Poor
Revisado: 12-28-09
The narrator in the audiobook almost made me stop listening to it. He sounded like he had a mouth full of mush. The book itself was OK but really not up to Michael Connelly's standard.
