Historia
To be born into a family of royal assassins pretty much guarantees that your life is going to be rather unusual. Especially if, like Miscellaneous 'Lanie' Stones, you also have a vicious allergy to all forms of violence and bloodshed, and an uncanny affinity for bringing the dead back to life. To make matters worse, family debt looms—a debt that will have to be paid sooner rather than later if Lanie and her sister are to retain ownership of the ancestral seat, Stones Manor.

Death and Delight
Revisado: 12-11-23
I bought this on a whim, and am so glad I did. These characters stole my heart, and the world building is phenomenal. Never have I found death so beautiful and comforting, or gods so appealing. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Historia
Piranesi lives in the House. Perhaps he always has. In his notebooks, day after day, he makes a clear and careful record of its wonders: the labyrinth of halls, the thousands upon thousands of statues, the tides that thunder up staircases, the clouds that move in slow procession through the upper halls. On Tuesdays and Fridays Piranesi sees his friend, the Other. At other times he brings tributes of food to the Dead. But mostly, he is alone.

Haunting
Revisado: 11-28-23
Have read this twice now, and I still find it fascinating. It’s both horrifying and weirdly comforting. Love it.

Historia
From the moment Mary Poppins arrives at Number Seventeen Cherry Tree Lane, everyday life at the Banks house is forever changed. Jane, Michael, and the twins have never had such a wonderful nanny, who brings enchantment and excitement everywhere she goes. In Mary Poppins Comes Back, the beloved nanny returns when she's pulled down from the clouds by the string of Michael's kite. In her care, the Banks children meet the King of the Castle and the Dirty Rascal, visit the upside-down world of Mr. Turvy and his bride, Miss Topsy, and spend a breathless afternoon above the park, dangling from a clutch of balloons.

Delightful Nonsense
Revisado: 11-25-23
These are stories from a simpler time, and they offer a balm to those who can surrender themselves to the wild ride without cynicism or the need to critique.

Historia
Still reeling from the sudden death of her mother, Jess is about to do the hardest thing she's ever done: empty her childhood home so that it can be sold. As she sorts through a lifetime of memories, everything comes to a halt when she comes across something she just can’t part with: an old set of encyclopedias. To the world, the books are outdated and ready to be recycled. To Jess, they represent love and the future that her mother always wanted her to have.

Heartwarming
Revisado: 11-23-23
A lovely and engaging story that inspires reflection on the stories and memories we leave behind, and on the way those pieces of our experience are sometimes captured in the form of some ordinary object that can still create ripples that touch the lives of others.
