I love these cases and…

I’ve heard Mr. Simon in interviews where I enjoyed listening to some of the stories he had gathered. This is a subject I have been into for over 30 years and the veridical experiences are pretty much the only ones I will listen to anymore. If someone has been abducted by aliens or had 300 NDE’s or one when they were being born or had an experience while tripping out at the dentist office—am sure they were meaningful experiences for those people—they are not as credible or interesting to me as these. My only complaint here is that his reading of the stories becomes very droning and annoying. I would recommend reading them, listening to his interviews or only listening to one at a time.

She’s redundant. She repeats herself…

She says things over and over again.

Seriously regret the purchase and more importantly the time.

The pitch/backstory…”my life sucked, long detail of how much it sucked and then I discovered magic (what I really meant was effective and slimey marketing tactics)! And within a few years my life is amazing. “Have you tried everyTHING and none of it worked? That’s because_________. “Change your story, change your thoughts, use your own words, I can’t tell you how and You are the magic.” It’s in another one of my books.”

Seriously, I have had some positive outcomes from experiments with magic or magick or mindset or whatever one wants to call it so there is a grain of truth in what she is saying, but my lord it felt like one long internet marketing ad and could have been all said in 10 minutes.

Want a wealthy person mindset…wealthy people and those on their way don’t stand for having their time wasted.

The narration did me in

I am super tolerant of narrators especially with non fiction. She was clear and deliberate but I could not listen long without feeling tortured. First few chapters the info was good.

Do you have 600 hours to spend getting somewhere?

Interesting idea. There are 13 books in this series and they each end on a cliffhanger. The first 3 I got for 1 credit. I am not willing to spend 10 credits and that much time to finish the series. The narrator for the first book was really ok, the narration is pretty awful for the other two and it is the same narrator for the rest of the 10. I feel a bit annoyed to have listened to a trilogy with more than enough time to provide at least a conclusion with room for continuation, but no.

Liked her interviews not so much her boo

I really enjoyed her in interviews, but the book was disappointing. Nothing new: visualisation, reticular activating system, visualisation etc. Get a journal, start a new habit etc. If I could start a new habit just like that I wouldn’t need the book :). Right now I am really enjoying dr. K. He really helps rather than just telling you what to do. Do you need another thing to do? My morning routine: walk, sunlight, exercise, meditation, dream journaling, etc etc, each of which is supposed to the THE first thing you do in the morning (how is that doable), is starting to be an all day ordeal.

Good in terms of archetypes and story beats

I have not totally finished this yet but I am enjoying it. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ peoples so I appreciate a mention of sex and gender identity. What I did not need is a lengthy explanation of gender and sex etc in the beginning. I have gotten that elsewhere, many elsewhere-s and it is important just not so much in this book.

What could have been said is: Anyone of any sex or any gender can write or be a character in either a hero’s or heroine’s journey. That’s all. Instead there was a lengthy quite lengthy rambling monologue about sex and gender that wasn’t needed. If you are already well versed in these ideas I would skip the first chapter maybe two and get to the business about structures and writing.

The shift of viewpoints throughout

I rather liked this all the way to the last third of it. Without giving away spoilers this started great and was pretty unusual, in a good way for me, in format, but the ending wasn’t satisfying.

Good but not my genres do not particularly helpful

I enjoyed this author’s personal story and admire her success. She is funny and spot on. What I did not know is that she is romance writer and all her universal fantasy tips are geared towards romance. I do not have any interest in romance novels usually not even interested in the romantic interest side dishes in most books so the universal fantasies were not useful to me. I did not know the author or the focus of the book so that is on me. I liked her and if romance is your thing this will be great.

Really enjoyable pleasant natural voice

My only problem is I want more now! I really enjoyed listening to her journey through this world.

Many people get miffed because she doesn’t come out with the “smoking gun”. No one does. No one has it. If you want physical evidence go elsewhere, she is studying the phenomenon and listening to the people she has met who are experiencers. She is not. That said, this woman has had some amazing relationships and I could listen to her read the phone book. There is something really appealing about her voice and I am sure it resonates with her students.

In her interview she is intelligent and well spoken but natural. She hasn’t removed the umm or oks from her everyday conversational exchanges and I find that really refreshing.

Long personal history. A long history of how this developed. Lots of case studies with little actual research presented. Would prefer:

What is it?
How does it work?
How do we KNOW it works?
Where do I find it?
How much does it cost?
Can I do it myself if there is no practitioner around?

Haven't gotten clarity on any but the first question and I don't want to waste further time learning about someone's personal journey to something I don't have access to through endless stories. Giving up for now.
