Historia
The double murder of a married couple in a small Washington town draws FBI forensic linguist Raisa Susanto into an investigation that mirrors a decades-old crime. Twenty-five years ago—to the day—Alex Parker murdered his parents, then took his own life, leaving behind a note admitting everything. Raisa, paired with forensic psychologist Callum Kilkenny, uses her skills to read between the lines. Especially now that paranoid postings on a conspiracy thread suggest that Alex was a victim himself.

Narrator was impressive
Revisado: 04-10-25
Initially, I found the constant spelling of words to be distracting. Since this was an audible listen, I lost the introduction of storyline to become convoluted by alternating perspectives of various characters, I would have liked getting to know the storyline and then the characters. As a result, I did not get the gist of the story until the latter chapters. I contemplated not finishing the book but found the narrator, Caroline Hewitt to be engaging. So, the reason to continue listening was due to the impressive narrator. I did not understand the story and became engaged after Chapter 12 or so. Once I did, I became interested and committed to the ending. Although the conversations between characters and names did periodically create slower absorption. Once I understood the storyline, I liked it. I love words, but would I read another book in this series? No, not if the linguistics character was constantly spelling.

Love the characters that compliment Fortune, Gertie, Ronald and Shadow bring so many laughs! The sassy Idamae is a force to be reckoned with. These characters seem to get progressively better in each book. The Fortune series are my favorite from author Jana DeLeon.

Mara must get inside the mind of a sadistic killer if she wants to serve justice. But this time when evil touches her, it may not let her go. Don't miss the newest novel in the Mara Brent Legal Thriller series. Mark of Justice is the nail-biting fourth audiobook in the Mara Brent series. If you like strong heroines, up-all-night pause-resisters, and truly surprising plot twists, then you’ll love Robin James legal thrillers.

Storyline was diffi
Revisado: 11-24-24
I liked the previous books in this series and decided to continue listening to the series. I did not like this one as much. The narration was very good but the details of murder were too lengthy, graphic and it seemed the storyline was less focused on the Mara and staff. I just found this one difficult to keep maintain attention.

Disliked the audiobook format
Revisado: 09-16-24
The book mentions the character’s name then continues with a story. Then, changes to another or same character’s name and presents a different storyline. Initially, there is no indication of how the character relates to another or the story. I found it convoluted and disjointed with a lack of continuity until the last few chapters.

Another unpredictable plot and ending
Revisado: 08-11-24
I often guess an ending before the book ends, which makes it less enjoyable. However, this is not the case with “Lost Proof”. The characters are interesting. The plot is interesting and requires the reader to keep track of each person and pay close attention to the storyline and its’ twists. I expect to read the Nate Shepherd books twice in hopes that there will be many more to come.
