Well, thought out and diagrammed from a professional that has obvious experience in the area. This is both helpful for anyone who might be struggling in a relationship with family, partner or friends. It can also be helpful for any professional, looking to increase their knowledge in order to help support others in this area. Inside you will find a clearly mapped out and well structured explanation and recommendation with helpful paradigms on how to address behaviors both in yourself, and in response to others.

I find male oriented work such as this to have a thin line between helpful and harmful with the best intentions. Some males may want a "do this, not that" book that takes the thinking out of addressing relationship and emotional issues. I prefer books that introduce new paradigms with insight from others than those that share my own. I found this book cringeworthy at times. I found a very contradicting message of be authentic and dont worry about being liked followed up with here are ways to change who you are to be liked by others. I also struggled with the eye-roll-inducing, semi-subtextual guide of battling toxic bro culture and "manning up" with the ideas suggested in a "bro ya gotta" way that the author suggests to do things in order to "man up". It also seemed like the author's insecurity came through both in a way that was acknowledged as well as part of the plea to their rationale.
In conclusion this book teetered on the "do this, not that"/new paradigm edge only to fall on the disappointing bro guide side of the divide.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I was ready to hear the story about Thrawn of the Chis empire. Too bad this was a boring military snooze fest. I'm only about half way through the book but I don't think I'll finish it. Watch star wars rebels. He's better in small doses.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

He does a good thrown

Would you listen to The Bell Jar again? Why?

I find this work by Silvia Plath to be nostalgic to a time where the concerns of the main character were taken less seriously. This story punctuates the reality of mental disorders in a timeless way through a perspective that is still relevant. For this reason this will be well worth a revisit.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Bell Jar?

Accounts of mania episodes, suicide attempt and ideations, and the quiet struggle of a woman in a seemingly uninterested world.

What does Maggie Gyllenhaal bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ms. Gyllenhaal gave voice to a character already so well pronounced. She also gave an opportunity to empathize with the main character separate from the written word.

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth a listen, multiple times.

I have not enjoyed a series so elegant and yet entertaining in quite some time. I think I sum the experience of this story as this: simply spellbinding.
