Historia
From Vanity Fair and The New York Times contributor comes a beautifully written, deeply felt memoir recounting the solo cross-country journey she made along the Ten across the American southwest: a mission to uncover both what harrowing violence may or may not have happened to her late mother, but also, to look within and discover who she herself is—where her mother ends and she begins.

Her name had me get the book
Revisado: 04-19-25
Pretty dry stuff, trying too hard to write like the authors she quotes. She needs to work on her style more and write more authentically. She seems like an accomplished academic and. maybe research should be her aim. I hope she keeps trying working on her writing and eventually producing a jewel of her work.

Very insightful and entertaining
Revisado: 10-22-21
I must admit, I never "got" Chelsea Handler so never really watched, listened or read anything of hers. I happened to hear her on the podcast, "Smartless" and enjoyed it and thought I would listen to the audio book.
I loved every minute of it. Her reading of it was especially great in that you heard in her voice the real emotions she was feeling as she recounted her story. I found I could completely understand her struggles with death and life, and through her self discovery I found myself understanding others in my family. Her humor, to my surprise is very close to my own. Some of the things she said about her dogs I have said about my pets.
This book is a really well written story of her life and family, and about love. There is marked sadness, but, as I have found in my life too, loss and deep sadness helps us really learn to appreciate the good things too. We all have our struggles and we deal as well as we can until we learn to do it better. We are all on a journey. Some of us have "gotten there" before others. I think I learned that the most prickly people are just the most hurt and don't know yet how to deal with the pain.
This book was very insightful and entertaining. Thank you Chelsea for sharing it with us.

Historia
In a series of enticing, irresistibly practical dialogues, the Guides of I Am the Word identify the emotional "boulders" that displace our authentic selves and consume our potential. The Guides provide to-the-point psychological and existential insights, along with self-developing exercises and affirmations, which begin to strip away residues of fear, self-doubt, and self-suffocating habits.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

why use one word when 100 will do
Revisado: 08-17-20
An overwrought book obviously written by a teenage girl who wanted to impress the literary minds she was keeping company with at the time. A great idea, just very poorly written.
