Marriage vows are sacred but if there was an excuse to cheat, Angelique had one. The affair was what made her husband realize he needed to do better. This was an entertaining listen but I think it took a little too long to get to the affair. Also I think it was a little unrealistic how both characters referred to each other as soul mates.

This story kept my interest from start to finish.I can't wait for the movie adaptation this fall. Only thing I would change is that I would have put more subtle clues throughout the book as to who the killer was- clues that may not be obvious until a second reading. I don't think the killer was quite set up enough but that said, that one little issue didn't take away from how much I enjoyed the book. I have listened to it 3 times and will probably revisit it down the line.

The author spends almost a third of the book suggesting things for you to eat. Yes, that's right. If you want suggestions for what to eat, you'll love this book. Nevermind that we bought the book because we wanted to read about writing. Author takes time to tell you the food suggestions are not filler material because she knows that's exactly what it is. The audio book is only 45 minutes long and about 12 minutes of it is naming brands of food you should eat on your 3-day novel-writing marathon. Yes she names name brands. Hm, I wonder if those companies are paying her for advertising for them.
The author also suggests you get someone to check on you during the three days to make sure you're eating and doing okay. Seriously? She suggests you pay for this person's gas. Really?
There is very little value if any in this audio book. It doesn't cost much but it's still a waste of money.

I enjoyed this book even though as others have mentioned, the incestuous relationship is icky. I don't want to read about family members professing their romantic love for each other, but other than that it was a page turner.

The narrator did a horrible job on the male characters. She made her voice deeper but did not use any inflection. Every line was basically monotone making the character sound bored, kind of like disinterested teenager. Story was okay, a little boring in some spots but I got through it and finished. I wouldn’t read another book by this author. She's not my cup of tea.

The two big secrets are predictable early on.Author doesn't know how to foreshadow without giving everything away. If Paul was on the island but not on the plane then it's obvious who he is and how he got there. One thing that was too unbelievable for me was how disrespectful the interviewer was. She acted like she was interviewing known criminals rather than tragedy survivors. Even if she thought they were lying she didn't have to be nasty. Any normal person would have said this interview is over the minute the interviewer got disrespectful. Yet both Dave & Lilly sit there and take it like they have to. Lilly feeling bad for harming whom she harmed even though the person did what they did is silly. The ending is ridiculous. Too perfect. for me once Paul is revealed the story is over. I didn't care about the characters trying to figure out who they wanted to be with. Book started of good then fizzled.

Narrator was good but story was boring with too many unnecessary details. Sometimes it reads more like a book report than a novel. The story stretches suspension of disbelief to the limit. Like I said, this probably just isn't my kind of book.
