Smooth flow and interesting twists

Dislike the overused trope of characters whose intellects never grow despite having every reason too. The cat's definitely carry the series. Narrator is excellent.

Another wonderful adventure in the Karsak Universe
Revisado: 10-23-23
Wasn't quite certain what to expect from a twisted version of Red Riding Hood, but this really wasn't it. Took my chances as it was a Karsak novel and her stories have never let me down. This was no exception. In a supernatural world filled with werewolves, fae, and plenty of foes, rises a protagonist one can't help but root for. The narrator was WELL above average and never distracted from the story. Terrific reader! I loved the brief tie in with Lily Stargazer as well. So nice to get a visit from a fave heroine. This set was well worth my time. Hoping there's more of these? Melanie? Melanie??? ;)

Historia
Boudica, second daughter of a Celtic king, has little concern for tribal tensions and political intrigues. Called by the gods and the stirrings of her own wild heart, she listens instead to whispers of the oaks. But Boudica would be wiser to heed the warning cries of eagles. Rumors abound that the Romans are amassing forces for another invasion. In an effort to consolidate power, Boudica’s father turns to Prasutagus, the formidable ruler of the Greater Iceni. To win Prasutagus’s aid, Boudica’s father must strike a bargain - a deal with implications beyond Boudica’s imagining.

Incredible storytelling. Far beyond my Expectation
Revisado: 11-07-22
Excellent story filled with characters worth both loving and loathing. Action , treachery, romance, heartaches, loss, and love; all with a healthy dose of myth and old magics in a solid story. Couldn't ask for much more beyond good narration and you'll find that here as well. That's always such a toss up with audio books so I was pleased to say this book didn't disappoint. Convincing voices that were in line with the characters and made them easy to tell apart. Ended on a great cliffhanger so I'm off to download and start the next book. For my tastes, Melanie's books never disappoint. Great read!

Historia
On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor.

Solid performance, surprisingly good story
Revisado: 07-26-20
I struggled to fall asleep while listening to this story and completely failed. So here it is, nearly 5am, still haven't slept, but at least I REALLY enjoyed the book. Typical mermaid chooses love over the ocean story, but with engaging characters and a decent plot. I'd have loved to see this as a fully fleshed out novel, but I guess a 30 hour read would have kept me up for days. Great story, worthy of your time.

Historia
Meet Shaman Bond, aka Eddie Drood, scion of the ancient Drood family. He is devoted to protecting humanity from the forces of darkness. Protected by the secret weapon received at birth by all members of the Drood family - a magical gold torc (i.e., a neck ring) that turns into a suit of nearly impervious golden armor - Eddie faces arcane dangers with healthy doses of wry self-confidence and sarcasm. Then the family matriarch sends him on a mission that turns out to be a deadly setup.

An excellent dalliance in another Green universe.
Revisado: 04-28-20
Haven't read anything new (to me) by Simon Green in years so jumped at the chance when I spotted this series to revisit this author. I was not disappointed. Fast paced, memorable characters, an intriguing world, and surprisingly good narration made the novel a worthwhile and memorable listen. I've already purchased the next novel in the series and look forward to hearing it unwind. If tales set in a scifi world with alternate universe twists (and twisted characters) are your thing, Simon Green never disappoints. Definitely recommended. Ah yes. Props to the narrator who does a superb job with the voices. Had he not been as good as he is, I'd have swapped over to reading the books themselves instead of continuing with the Audible series.
