I have listened to the original over 50 times, I couldn't stand this one once. Wil was great in his other performances, but he was so bland overall and sometimes trying way too hard to be different than the first one. There were 3 reviews when I bought this and they were fake or just full of it, because the amazing reviews for this book were way too good. it was so agonizing to make myself listen to the first half of the book, I just quit listening to it. I will still be a supporter of Wil, this character just isn't him, which is a pretty big problem considering how the story is told in this book. if you absolutely loved the first version, you just aren't going to like this one.

I like just about every book I have listened to, but this was amazing. I'm a military person so I really appreciate all the things this book covers, but the history of it all would appeal to everyone.

Narrator uses poorly placed pauses and word emphasis, and it really takes away from the lecture instead of improving it. The information itself is well organized and conclusions are done well.

story doesn't get anywhere until the very end

loved the first 2 books, but this one goes so slow until about the last 5 chapters. so much of the book is way too detailed about nothing that matters. it jumps back and forth in the timeline and it gets old after the first 2 jumps, mostly because X's story is what you want to hear. team raptor's part doesn't add to the story and only serves to move the timeline forward, it's just so boring and repetative. I still can't wait for the next book, I just hope it covers more ground than this one.

I absolutely loved this book, can't wait for the next one. I loved the added humor, it sets the book apart from other science fiction.

I love the two main characters and their interactions. the start of the story isn't ​the greatest, but then it finds a good groove and moves along well. I couldn't stop listening once I got past the first few chapters. I can't wait for the next book to see where the characters go.

the whole point of this book was the Mars offensive and it took 2/3 of the book to even get to that point. I thought the end of the last book wasn't very good, but the end of this one was way worse

not a bad listen, but not a good one either

narrator keeps changing his volume which makes listening really annoying, other aspects of the narrator are fine. the story is ok, it's irritating when the"smart" characters can't figure out stuff that are pretty obvious. the author also keeps retelling character back stories that makes already slow moving parts even slower. overall I don't regret buying the book, but I really liked the first movie, so I'm probably giving it a better review than I normally would.
