The story is excellent. Great characters and. Wry well written. But the narration is simply fantastic. Hands down the best narrator I’ve heard, and I’ve listened to hundreds of books. I own the paper version, but when I read it I only hear this narrators voice. Well done!!

Historia
In 1942, America's deadliest fighter pilot, or "ace of aces" - the legendary Eddie Rickenbacker - offered a bottle of bourbon to the first US fighter pilot to break his record of 26 enemy planes shot down. Seizing on the challenge to motivate his men, General George Kenney promoted what they would come to call the "race of aces" as a way of boosting the spirits of his war-weary command.

Outstanding book

One of the best written and informative books I've come across about the War of 1812. Written in a captivating and steadily interesting way, and the narrator did an exceptional job as well, slight mispronouncing aside. Overall it's easily fallen in as one of my favorites.

Historia
Before the ink was dry on the U.S. Constitution, the establishment of a permanent military had become the most divisive issue facing the new government. Would a standing army be the thin end of dictatorship? Would a navy protect American commerce against the Mediterranean pirates, or drain the treasury and provoke hostilities with the great powers? The founders, particularly Jefferson, Madison, and Adams, debated these questions fiercely and switched sides more than once.

Historia
Coyote America is both an environmental and a deep natural history of the coyote. It traces both the five-million-year-long biological story of an animal that has become the "wolf" in our backyards and its cultural evolution from a preeminent spot in Native American religions to the hapless foil of the Road Runner. A deeply American tale, the story of the coyote in the American West and beyond is a sort of Manifest Destiny in reverse.

Too much fluff
Revisado: 01-06-17
Was hoping for a good book about the animal itself, but sadly this is filled mostly with authors opinions and a bunch of non-related crap, for lack of a better word. You can skip the first two chapters completely and not miss anything. The actual facts could be compressed into about a one hour read and be done. Just a huge waste of time

Potential lost
Revisado: 12-31-16
This could easily be a great book and a great listen. However, the author somehow managed to make one of favorite topics extremely dry, and then they topped it off by putting one of the most monotone and boring narrators I've ever heard to read it. Couldn't finish it. Literally the only audio book thats ever put me asleep at the wheel. Such a great topic turned out so terrible. Sad

Historia
The Last Punisher is a bold, no-holds-barred first-person account of the Iraq War. With wry humor and moving testimony, Kevin Lacz tells the story of his tour in Iraq with SEAL Team Three, the warrior elite of the navy. This legendary unit, known as The Punishers, included Chris Kyle ( American Sniper), Mike Monsoor, Ryan Job, and Marc Lee. These brave men were instrumental in securing the key locations in the pivotal 2006 Battle of Ramadi, told with stunning detail in this book.

Read the book
Revisado: 09-05-16
This is an outstanding book that is brought to audio with a less than stellar narrator. Super odd pauses and awkward word inflections that clearly marks a severe grammatical deficiency by the narrator prevents you from ever becoming as fully invested in the story as the story itself deserves. That being said, the strength of the story itself will allow you to at least complete it. At which point you curse the audio publisher for preventing this from being the auditory experience that it clearly should to be. Outstanding writing by Lacz. Terrible reading by Phillips.

Historia
In the early morning hours of April 1, 1970, more than four hundred North Vietnamese soldiers charged out into the open and tried to overrun FSB Illingworth. The battle went on, mostly in the dark, for hours. Exposed ammunition canisters were hit and blew up, causing a thunderous explosion inside the FSB that left dust so thick it jammed the hand-held weapons of the GIs. Much of the combat was hand-to-hand. In all, twenty-four Americans lost their lives and another fifty-four were wounded.

Terrible
Revisado: 06-21-16
I've read the book, which is pretty decent. Not the writing style I prefer, as it tends to drag things out and tell things in advance of actually telling them in the story itself. But the narration here is horrid. Like listening to paint dry. I've tried numerous times and can't make it past the second chapter. I listen to these while I drive, and literally found myself being put to sleep by the terrible monotone of the narrator.

Gene Wentz's Men in Green Faces is the classic novel of Vietnam that inspired a generation of SEALs. Here is the story of a good soldier trained to be part of an elite team of warriors - and of the killing grounds where he was forever changed. Gene Michaels carries an M-60, 800 rounds, and a Bible. The ultimate SEAL, he also carries a murderous grudge against a bloodthirsty colonel who was once one of their own.
