Historia
Mafatu's name means Stout Heart, but the people of Hikueru call him a coward. He fears the sea and the powerful Sea God Moana because years ago, the powerful tides killed his mother. Such fear is shameful on this island, but it is especially humiliating for Mafatu, whose father reigns as Great Chief of Hikueru. One day, young Mafatu can no longer stand the jeers and taunts of the braver boys. With his faithful dog, Uri, he steals an outrigger canoe and paddles into the Polynesian sea to conquer his fear.

A Childhood Treasure
Revisado: 12-13-15
I listened to this story on a vinyl 45 as a child, so I was very excited to see it on Audible as an adult! 😀
Then, I focused on the drama and excitement as Mufato killed the shark. Now, I payed paid attention to the lessons in the story...and the excitement.
At first, I thought George Guidall was the wrong sort to narrate this story - his voice didn't seem very dashing - but the longer I listened, the more I enjoyed it.

A Better Read than Listen
Revisado: 12-08-15
I generally like Lisa Kleypas's works, and this was no exception.
And Roselyn Landor is an accomplished narrator; she is consistent with her male and female voices, and her accent is pleasantly minimal.
What I do not like: her narration is very whispery and breathy, almost as if she is constantly struggling to catch a full breath. This made it difficult for me to really sink into the story, and at times, to even comprehend the scenes.

Passable
Revisado: 12-05-15
I have never read anything by Tessa Dare, so I had no expectations when I bought this book, except the blurb looked interesting.
I don't like to give up on books, so I made myself continue to the end, but...
This narrator's was pleasant to the ear, but almost monotone for the lack of distinction of characters - much less, distinct voices for men and women! This made it hard to follow the story line - at least for me.
I know this is a trilogy, so things must be carried over, so we want to read the next books, but still!
These characters are so lacking! I kept wanting them to, "grow up and get a job!" (I do know that was rather forbidden for members of the aristocracy, but life would have been better!)
Also, both the hero and heroine kept making, and repeating, silly, immature mistakes.
So, no. I don't think I will be purchasing more of the Stud Club books, and probably not any more by Ms. Dare, or by this narrator.

Good Story
Revisado: 11-04-15
Some of the actions and lives of the characters do not correlate with how I believe London Society truly was - but overall it was an enjoyable read, and I plan to acquire the other two books.
I was a little disappointed in the narrator's performance, it was hard for me to hear a distinct difference for each person, and I couldn't fully distinguish the male narrator until the epilogue.

A challenging and enjoyable book
Revisado: 10-21-15
This book was deeply evocative, heart wrenching, and patience trying all at the same time!
I really did enjoy the progression of the story, and the narration was spot on as usual, but Maddie drove me to frustration with her shilly-shally ways.
I also hope the author will write the stories of the Duke's two friends.

Amazing job!
Revisado: 10-14-15
This was a terrific story. I was thrilled to hear the conclusion of Samuel's story. The narration was spot on as usual.
I enjoyed both of these characters, especially Leda and her manners. But both characters were very human, in the fact that I found myself frustrated with some of their choices.

Historia
Though forced to fight for the hated British, Morgan MacKinnon would no more betray the men he leads than slit his own throat - not even when he was captured by the French and threatened with an agonizing death by fire at the hands of their Abenaki allies. Only the look of innocent longing in the eyes of a convent-bred French lass could make him question his vow to escape and return to the Rangers. And soon the sweet passion he awoke in Amalie had him cursing the war that forced him to choose between upholding his honor and pledging himself to the woman he loves.

A hand-picked cadre of warriors, they had the fierce courage of their Scots forefathers, combined with the stealth and cunning of the Indians who lived beside them in the wilderness. Battling the French in a no-holds-barred combat, they forged a new brand of honor, became a new breed of men - MacKinnon's Rangers. Iain MacKinnon had been forced to serve the British crown, but compassion urged him to save the lovely lass facing certain death at the hands of the Abenaki. He'd defied his orders, endangered his brothers, his men and his mission, all for a woman. But when he held Annie's sweet body in his arms, he could feel no regret.

Not for me.
Revisado: 06-20-15
The preview sounded entertaining; but it was depressing to continually hear of adult immaturity, abandonment, and enablement - come on...the main part of being an adult is sticking by your promises, especially when the going gets tough! All this was really a detraction from the natural humor of human nature. I'm sorry, but I didn't want to tough this book out 'till the end.

Historia
The cold, precise Duke of Montford demands things his way: neatly ordered, in place, and adhering closely to the rules. So he is furious when he learns that the tenant of his ducal estate has been dead for a year, and a stranger has been running the Honeywell business - which, by contract, is now Montford's. When he arrives in Yorkshire to investigate, he discovers that the estate is being run by an unruly, tomboyish woman - and a bluestocking at that!

I'm sorry...
Revisado: 06-19-15
From the various reviews of the book, I thought this would be enjoyable. I was sadly mistaken.
The narrator's voice was absolutely grating, and peers of the realm, leaders of the ton would not have such a cockney-ish accent!
I didn't really like either of the main characters, thought they acted like despots and plain needed to grow up!
