Second Best
Revisado: 04-30-15
This second memoir of a Scottish doctor dealt more with the travel and business side of his practice. Well written and well performed in his pleasant Scottish brogue, it has moments of humor and interaction with memorable patients. A nice follow-up to the first and best volume called A Seaside Practice.

Historia
In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Gripping and emotional tale of war and friendship
Revisado: 03-06-15
I stayed up until three AM through the twists and turns of a story so original, it shocked and saddened as well as compelled me to come to the understanding that sometimes healing with woundedness is still healing.

Historia
Come with us to an Enchanted Place, a forest where Winnie-the-Pooh lived with Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Eeyore, Kanga, and Little Roo. The stories are about Christopher Robin and these good companions having wonderful times getting in and out of trouble. It is all very exciting and, really, quite thrilling no matter how young or old you may be. It is painful to try and imagine what the world would be like without them.

But the secrets she unveils will expose a darker, more dangerous side of the war–and of her own past.

Each book in series gets better !
Revisado: 09-30-13
Would you listen to His Majesty's Hope again? Why?
Yes. The characters are fascinating and the plot is complex. Even knowing the outcome,
the characters are so fully developed you want to read about their thought processes in a real historical time period.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Maggie of course for her asides that reveal her humanness in times of humor and in moments of intense danger. You feel you truly know her.
Have you listened to any of Susan Duerden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Equally good. Same narrator in all three books.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Little known operations of female spies during WWII revealed.
Any additional comments?
Thankfully another sequel is in the future. Each one gets more intense and the characters more developed.
