Historia
Holland Taylor is comfortable in interrogation rooms. For years the cold dark cells of the St. Paul Police Department homicide squad were his turf, and with the help of his partner he wrung confessions out of countless killers. But that was long ago. Tonight Taylor is on the other side of the desk. Tonight he is the suspect.

A great start to a new series from David Housewrig
Revisado: 06-30-20
A great start to a new series featuring PI Holland Taylor. This is my first book from David Housewright, it started at an easy pace, gradually drawing me in as characters and the story developed and I got used to narrator RC Bray. When the drunk driver who killed Holland Taylor's family is released and found dead Taylor is initially questioned and decides to look into the circumstances surrounding the death. There are links to a political campaign and as he pieces together the roles, relationships and potential motives of the various people involved more bodies are discovered and it is less clear just what is going on and who is responsible. A well written book with plot twists and surprised right up to the end. This one went into the top tier of my library and I look forward to the next in the series.

Historia
Specialist in the scam, the con, and the rip-off, Jerry Manelli is running around New York hot on the trail of a priest: a thousand-year-old, two-foot-tall, ugly, misshapen, dancing Aztec priest made of solid gold, with eyes of pure emeralds, worth a million dollars. Somebody stole it from its museum home in South America and smuggled it through U.S. Customs in a shipment of plastic imitations. But the wrong one got delivered, and the million dollar statue, mixed with the fifteen copies, is somewhere in New York.

I enjoyed this book from Donald E Westlake
Revisado: 06-30-20
I enjoyed my first book from Donald E Westlake and it was well narrated by Brian Holsopple. Centred around a solid gold statue, and various people who attempt to steal it, this is a humorous and thoroughly entertaining book with a surprise ending. If you like Lawrence Block's series featuring Bernie Rhodenbarr you'll enjoy this one too. I put this in the top tier of my library and look forward to the next in the series.

Revisado: 06-20-20
Henning Mankell does it again and narrator Sean Barrett does not disappoint. This one sees Kurt, and soon to be junior police officer Linda, both investigating mysteries that eventually intersect. Kurt is chasing a sadist whose alarming crimes are escalating while Linda is stood up by one of her friends who has appears to have mysteriously disappeared. An interesting and fast paced book that went into the top tier of my library.

Revisado: 06-20-20
A comprehensive and well rounded book from Craig Johnson and expertly narrated by George Guidall. Called in to investigate the suicide of a fellow law officer in a neighboring county Walt and his old mentor Lucian soon find things are not what they seem. The Bear and Deputy Victoria get involved and Walt's daughter demands he fly across the country for the birth of his grand daughter just as he is fighting to save his life and the lives of others. I'm a Longmire fan and George Guidall is one of an elite few narrators but this one ended up in the second tier of my library.

A meandering tale riddled with the affable duo's
Revisado: 06-20-20
The fourth in this series by Christopher Fowler is well narrated by Tim Goodman, It is a meandering tale, riddled with the affable duo's foibles, that leads us to a rather obvious conclusion. Fortunately May's grand daughter and the future of the entire PCU are saved when they simultaneously solve a series of historic crimes along with a series current murders. An easy listen if the mood suits. I put this one in the second tier of my library.

Reginald Hill and Colin Buchanan deliver again
Revisado: 06-17-20
Reginald Hill and Colin Buchanan deliver again with the sixth installment in the Dalziel and Pasco series. This one describes a murder investigation involving Gypsies, Ellie Pascoe and some of her acquaintances, a gliding club and enough plot twists, sprinkled with Dalziel's witt to entertain until the end. Another top tier effort from Reginald Hill and Colin Buchanan.

US Marshal Arliss Cutter is a born tracker. Raised in the swamplands of Florida, he honed his skills in the military, fought in the Middle East, and worked three field positions for Marshal Services. When it comes to tracking someone down - or taking someone out - Cutter's the best. But his newest assignment is taking him out of his comfort zone to southeast Alaska. Cold, dark, uninhabited forests that are often shrouded in fog. And it's the kind of case that makes his blood run cold.

Not quite top tier in my library but a good story
Revisado: 06-08-20
Not quite top tier in my library but a good story. This book by Marc Cameron, and narrated by David Chandler, is set in Alaska with some unusual main characters and some vicious, cold blooded Cartel killers. While I would consider this book a good first effort I would not describe it as gripping or hard to put down. It did contain a lot of elements to make a good book and I will keep an eye on this series.

Historia
Chief Inspector Morse seldom allowed himself to be caught up in New Year celebrations. So the murder inquiry in the festive hotel had a certain appeal. It was a crime worthy of the season. The corpse was still in fancy dress. And hardly a single guest at the Haworth had registered under a genuine name....

Enjoying this series again
Revisado: 06-08-20
I am enjoying this series again and Samuel West's narration fits like a glove. In the course of a New Year's Eve murder investigation Morse discovers no-one involved is who or what they seem and everyone has secrets. Once again Colin Dexter has written a mystery full of unexpected twists and turns that kept me interested to the end. A topi tier place in my library.

A good book with good narration
Revisado: 05-31-20
I'm a big fan of David Baldacci, already owning a lot of his books and this one did not disappoint. It is set in 1949 America and features a returned serviceman, Aloysius Archer, who has just been released from prison after serving a sentence for a crime he did not commit. Incorporating period language and terminology with solid character development, this book tells the story of his encounters with powerful men and beautiful women in a small town where no-one is really who they seem. Framed for murder, Archer must expose the hidden secrets of the rich and powerful to save himself. This book was well narrated by Edoardo Ballerini and occupies a place in the top tier of my library. Perhaps this is the start of a new series from David Baldacci?
