Great series
Revisado: 07-12-23
The American war hero series is excellent. Len Lomell is no exception. It’s the perfect length to give his heroics on D-Day and other battles their proper due. Not just like Lomell himself, or so the reader learns, the book doesn’t linger there. It gives you the complete picture if the man without too much detail, making tangents impossible. The entire series is perfectly concise. Oh to have such men on this generation alive today. How they are missed. Excellent all around.

VERY detailed
Revisado: 07-08-23
This book is very dense and comprehensive. The only issue with it is it is hard to follow. It is likely a book that would be easier to follow in physical form. However with Robert Whitfield ad the reader and the type of info one gains any weakness can be worked through.

Historia
When his jet malfunctions, Captain Ward Millar makes a last-second decision to eject over enemy territory in North Korea before his plane explodes. His parachute barely opens before impact, saving his life, but the hard landing snaps both of his ankles. Unable to walk, Captain Millar is easily captured by North Korean and Chinese soldiers. His captors interrogate, threaten, and starve him in an attempt to extract strategic wartime information. He stalls the inevitable by feeding the enemy false information, but it’s only a matter of time before they discover his lies.

Very worthwhile read
Revisado: 06-23-23
This is a wonderful book that is based on a true story. It’s essentially about freedom during the Korean War. One for an escaped American POW and the other for a Christian North Korean and his desire for freedom from communism. It’s fast paced and exciting. And the reality that freedom is worth dying for is reiterated over abc over. Wonderful work.

Egypt's President Nasser has declared that the Arab world's goal is no less than "the destruction of Israel."

Perfect perspective
Revisado: 06-21-23
“The Lions Gate” is an exceptional book. What sets it apart is th format. It is basically written as personal stories and memories of those who fought and not as most military history books. The recollections are then weaved together to form a collective. The readers feels like he or she is there. Perfect narration from a master Malcolm Hillgartner.

This truly is John Steinbeck’s magnum opus. With a career such as his it’s not an easy thing to narrow it down so. The book is a masterpiece. It’s as simple as that. And a more perfect narrator can not be found for this work.

Historian Mark Hager builds on hundreds of hours of interviews with Harold Frank, sharing the intimate and heart-pounding account of Frank’s journey as a child of the Great Depression to the bloody shores of the D-Day invasion, into the bowels of Nazi Germany, and back to the U.S. where as a young man Harold would spend years resolutely dealing with the lingering effects of starvation rations while determinedly building a new life—a life always mindful of the legacy of his POW experience and his faithful service in America’s hard-fought war against Nazi aggression.

Historia
While the Gospels relate only the barest essentials concerning the physical suffering of Jesus, Dr. Pierre Barbet addresses these gaps with scientific inquiry. A Doctor at Calvary provides a forensic pathologist's analysis of the Holy Shroud of Turin, which reveals the graphic account of Jesus' suffering at the hands of the Romans. Through a modern medical lens, Dr. Barbet examines the methods of infliction and physiological effects of each wound. He also delves into the historic practice and mechanics of crucifixion.

Very Technical
Revisado: 06-06-23
“A Doctor at Calvary” is a very technical account about the accuracy of the shroud. As one not very familiar with the shroud it was easy to get confused. But after getting past this, it was a very interesting listen. In actuality it has little to do with Calvary itself but more about the Shroud. And it also provides a medical analysis of crucifixion. A worthwhile listen but one that requires foreknowledge.

Historia
On April 10, 1970, Hill 927 was occupied by troopers of the Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division. By July, the activities of the artillery and infantry of Ripcord had caught the attention of the NVA (North Vietnamese Army) and a long and deadly siege ensued. Ripcord was the Screaming Eagles's last chance to do significant damage to the NVA in the A Shau Valley before the division was withdrawn from Vietnam and returned to the US.

Unbelievable
Revisado: 06-03-23
“Ripcord” is a stunning work of a battle/battles that could have been won had American troops been actually supported. It’s maddening and frightening. Keith Nolan takes the reader into the heart of the conflict and makes the reader feel all emotions. It’s a roller coaster and how anyone got through it is a wonder. Brilliant retelling and narration.
