Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Untuck this recording quality
- De Martin J. Fogarty en 07-25-18
Poor quality
Revisado: 09-18-24
Listen to the preview carefully to determine if the quality of the recording is going to be a problem as it was for me.
I should've known by the title that curse words were going to be used frequently. After a while it got wearing and interfered with my enjoyment with the substance of the content.

Historia
Welcome to the era of true marriages of convenience. Discover the reality of trading someone’s hand in marriage, such as an American heiress, in exchange for money, power, or political clout through compelling history lectures. Showcased in novels such as Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence and in present day pop culture through works like Downtown Abbey, the Gilded Age was an era of contradictions. Life on both sides of the Atlantic was grimy and glamorous, prosperous and impoverished, traditional and revolutionary.

Information interesting but delivery painful
Revisado: 07-18-22
The narrators tone, cadence, and emphasis made this difficult to listen. It's a shame because the information provided a background for narrator such as in Downton Abbey.

Historia
One summer in Sicily, Marlena de Blasi entered a world of unforgettable magic when she discovered the secret Sicilian villa of Donnafugata. There life was ruled by ritual and by an unassailable 70-year-old matriarch and protectress, Tosca.

Listen to the voice sample first!
Revisado: 11-20-19
Personally I do not care for the sound of a whisper or near whisper for narration. Because of this I was unable to listen to this production. I love her previously published books, but as Marlena de Blasi narrated, this must be the effect she wanted and I 'll go back to reading any new books in hardback.
