Historia
At the end of the world, a groundbreaking scientific experiment will change everything. Dr. Laura Reynolds had it all. A job she loved. The respect of her peers. Student debt she was slowly chipping away at. And one day, it all went away. She saw the wrong thing—a colleague's mistake. And to escape, he framed her. Laura's only option is to join a secretive research project in Antarctica, where she hopes to keep practicing medicine and one day get her life back. But soon after arriving, she realizes that things aren't what they seem in this advanced facility.

Historia
More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

Couldn't get into it
Revisado: 01-03-24
The initial set up and tragedy was NOT really set up very well. Techies don't routinely check and double check and get someone to triple check equipment? Come on! Those same techs' lives rely on the divers. An immediate, irrational turn off for me.

Historia
Deep in the sewers of New York City, the rat population is growing. Dr. Randolph Finch is determined to break the cycle. His new rodenticide, Degenesis, doesn’t kill rats. It sterilizes them from reproducing. But nothing adapts faster than a New York rat.... City exterminators and soon-to-be divorced Chris and Benita Jackson think they know how these rats think. They know how rats breed. And they fear that Degenesis has only made these rats stronger. More aggressive. More intelligent. And more ravenous than ever...

AWFUL narration and truly cringeworthy sound direction!
Revisado: 11-08-23
Narrator sounded like a sleepy gool! Sound mix was ghastly. Truly the worst audible book I've EVER listened to. Gave up @1/3 the way in. Oh, and the characters were awful, too. Just stunningly bad, bad, bad.

Historia
Refuge, New Hampshire, is a small town. The kind found on postcards. Their biggest concern is the rowdy summertime revelers making their way up from Massachusetts and New York. And with most of the town's residents in neighboring Ashland, for the Fourth of July fireworks show, Refuge is quieter than usual. That is, until the Baptist church's bell starts ringing - on its own. The bell chimes faster and faster, reaching a frenetic pace, as though rung by the Devil himself. But the bell is just the beginning.

You know a book is a "meh" book when...
Revisado: 08-31-23
...what do you liked best about it were the names of some of the characters. other than that, sure, the monsters were interesting and the premise had promise, but it just didn't deliver for me. I did not actually finish the book. I got fed up with it when some mystical religiosity stuff came up.

Historia
In the aftermath of a hurricane, a series of strange events plague the coastal waters off Florida. People go into the water and never return. Corpses of killer whales drift ashore, ravaged from enormous bite marks. A fishing trawler is found adrift, with a mysterious gash in its hull. Transferred to the coastal town of Merit, police officer Leonard Riker uncovers the horrible reality of an enormous thresher shark lurking off the coast. Forty feet in length, it has taken a territorial claim to the waters near the town harbor.

Main character's behavior: stupid.
Revisado: 06-06-23
Way too slow in the beginning. "Stock" characters with boring, predictable behavior. So bad I couldn't get past the cookie- cutter rookie's first day.
Also, dislikable main character is a rip-off of Jack Reacher. Yuk.

Historia
Sometimes the worst storms aren't from Mother Nature, and sometimes the worst nightmares aren't the ones in our heads. Mike Mitchell, an average New Yorker already struggling to keep his family together, suddenly finds himself fighting just to keep them alive when an increasingly bizarre string of disasters starts appearing on the world's news networks. As both the real world and the cyber world come crashing down, bending perception and reality, a monster snowstorm cuts New York off from the world, turning it into a wintry tomb where nothing is what it seems.

And downright stupid (the story AND the characters) after leaving the city. It's like they are willfully blind about the ramifications of what is going on around them. It's maddening! Stopped reading it.
